How much do you want to bet this service is going to be plagued by missing/stolen/broken/compromised devices?
People do weird stuff with their mobile devices.

Isn't this the point of leasing from carriers

What's the point if phones are carrier-subsidized anyway?

          Smart idea but Germany????
Where the Internet connection is at average speeds???
And Internet plan is so expensive!

"You will own less and be happy" - I think the idea of renting a phone may be cool if you want to try out the device for a while but I would be concerned if this eventually became the most common way to use phones in the future.

I would like to try it for 1 month, not more than that. Not a bad idea.
Definitely give it a go if/when it arrives in my country.

The prices are a joke. I would rather buy the device...

So how do Samsung make money?
This strategy is probably to lure in potential customers who want to check out the phone before considering purchase, reviewers will rent for a month for their review (this way they can increase their reviews as most new reviewers don't have enough money or don't want to spend large amount on a single phone), these phones could be later sold as refurbished at lower price, lower priced S20 series will definitely excite many buyers so in the end they can cover their cost as well as gain profit even if profit gained will be much smaller than selling a brand new phone

I can definitely see an appeal of this idea for budding tech bloggers and YouTubers where they'd struggle to get a review unit from the brand itself. I think more smartphone brands should consider this idea.

I like the idea of renting a phone for a year and then switching to the new model, in principle. but, wow, those prices..... Isn't the whole point of this that it's cheaper than just buying the phone..?

Yeah, lunch this in a country that has minimum salary higher than the price of the product, it makes sense, not.

The haters should read terms and conditions before pulling a conclusion. This is regarding the damage part that everyone here talks about:

Do I have to worry about signs of use?
Of course not - you should use your rental device as if it belonged to you. We will remove small scratches and normal signs of use free of charge after the return. However, if there are severe signs of wear and tear, repairs are necessary, especially for displays. Then Grover Care takes over and we cover 90% of the repair costs.

So haters, please read before asserting something.

They'd have to pay me for the suffering with the Exynos version. I'll go with Xiaomi 11 Pro this next year, which they failed to get banned.
