Anonymous, 23 Aug 2012LG....I think I'll pass. With all due respect, they make GTE... moreEveryones software support have sucked latey. millions of HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola and Sony users are complaining about late or no upgrades. Sometimes due to manufacturer, other times due to carrier delays.

Apple customers too, and they have a right too when apple stop including SW features in phones that would be able to support it. Not that I know or care much about ios.

Fact is that it doesn't really matter much on Android phones, because most new features are already available as 3rd party apps, and have been since before they got included in the OS. Just about all apps support any Android version back towards 2.2, and the majority back towards 1.5. Other than that it's mainly HW limitations that will stop one from getting to install an app. Too low screen res, amount of RAM and CPU power won't get fixed by newer OS version. UI can be updated be launchers and lock screens, as well as keyboards, messaging clients, widgets and, well just about anything.

Sony seems to be shaping up, probably as a result of their low market share and need to fix it fast.

chocowii, 23 Aug 2012credits to the LG Research team but who need a quad-core?Not necessarily 4 cores, but the power of this cpu. I wouldn't care if it's 1,2,4, or 8 cores. The power is what matters. Phone gamers are one group that wouldn't mind more power for more advanced games and at higher resolutions.

And those who want a proper desktop function from our smartphones. Would be great if more proper programs, and not just small simplyfied apps, came to our smartphones.

The more we can do on our phones/tablets, the less we need to spend time behind our more traditional computers. Great when we're outside, and not ahve to wait 'til we get to a computer, or always have to bring a laptop everywhere.

LG....I think I'll pass. With all due respect, they make GTEAT phones but their software support is pretty terrible.Plus its only a matter of time before others come up with similar/better specs and considering that, LG is just not a safe bet for me.

            Cheers.

mehri, 23 Aug 2012You are completly wrong. the LG Created the first dual core... moreActually Xiaomi may be the first with the quad-core Krait and Adreno 320, it will be released in October, so it's a bit of a race between the two of them.

And I just remembered that we might see some of the moe powerful Intel's coming later this year or early 2013. So both nvidia and Samsung really need to beef up their products. Don't know much about the Tegra 4, but the coming gen of Exynos won't cut it.

Not sure about it..., 23 Aug 2012Quad Exynos blows S Pro out of the water, so I'd rather wai... moreBeing a joker today?

Who cares which phone will sell the most this year. High sales = good marketing, not necessarely a good device. Just look at the S3 and iphone. . .

This (Optimus G) will be the best in the market when it arrives, hence this is the one to buy. This may be released as soon as September/October, meaning Christmas sales.

Statistics have also shown that people like the re-new themselves with buying new things after the summer.

And no, none of the specs you mentioned is coming. Firstly because the next model will be called S4, not S5. Secondly because 4GB RAM is highly unnecessary, expensive in phones (as RAM is the single most expensive part of the phone) and would drain even a 3000mAh battery quite quickly. Thirdly; the next gen A15-based Exynos (5250) will work at max 2.5Ghz, not to mention that this 32nm chip will be less power efficient than the Krait. Higher frequency (Hz) does not mean more power, actually it mostly means more power drain. We all know Samsung likes to beef up numbers with nothing substantial behind them, so probably a quadcore Exynos @2GHz will be their next, and it will perform weaker than, or similar to, the quad 1.5GHz Krait. Just 8 months after . . . When Next gen from Qualcomm is already available.

The New mali is said to be a 400% improvement over the Mali 400, the Adreno 320 is a 600% improvement.

Basically, Samsung need to make even better CPU and GPU for next year, so flick the Mali-T604 GPU and Exynos 5250 in the Note 2, which will make it better than their S3, but still worse than Optimus G. And with it's 5.5" lumpyness, very few will want it.

nvidia have been holding info on the next gen more close to their chest. Will be more interesting to see what they will bring come January. But, that's a long time from now and the christmas sales, and possibly also ne years sales, will be over. Not to mention that the Optimus G will then have been available for months and dropped in price. So Tegra 4 need to be much better, but will most likely just be on par, and Sammy has to make something better than Exynos 5250, or run them at max frequency from the get-go, and drain battery in record time.

LG is becoming more like a research company. I bet they care less about actual mobile manufacturing at this point. They currently own majority of 4G patents.

LG Optimus 2X was one of first few to feature Nvidia Tegra 2 phone, it was terrible laggy.
