25 December 2020
BOE received a green light and has seemingly resolved its quality control issues.

Quality will be exact same. Just like LG already also makes screens for iPhone 12 and no-one can see the difference. You know BOE just manufacture them, they didn't design it. Apple use Samsung as main manufacturer because no-one can build them as much and as fast Samsung does. Quality wise they are same.

Anonymous, 25 Dec 2020They call it "True tone"😂I suggest you READ first.

Turn Off "True Tone" in brightness settings.
        You'll get the accurate color.
The true tone makes the display yellowish indoors.

Apple finds new ways to con it's customers. They recently removed the charger from the box citing BS "pro environment" reasons. Now they're switching to cheap components (BOE & Samsung display are miles apart) while keeping their product prices same.

The fanboys won't have a problem with this though. Denial works for them.

You pay premium price for a cheap BOE display? Apple must have been crazy lately.

[deleted post]Yeah, unfortunately lots of brands are using numerous suppliers for components now. Xiaomi, Huawei and Oppo also use various screen suppliers for the same phones. Some phones even don't specify the camera sensor now as they also use camera sensors from different suppliers. Not ideal as a buyer when you don't know what you're getting

They didn't choose to give 120hz display because of supply issue and to keep the price low.
But turns out they couldn't get the quality control of panels for a handful of phones over the course of a year.

That is why the screen is the most expensive part in the Bill of Materials for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Samsung made a good profit out of the deal.

Anonymous, 25 Dec 2020Still can't make their own components I see. What are you even talking about? Do you understand how a supply chain works? Everyone buys from Samsung and LG.

I pre-ordered the iphone 12 pro max on the day one and received on the first day when they started delivering in US.

As soon as I turned on the phone, I found the screen has a yellow tint.

I went ahead and set it up and tried changing the true tone option. But that didn't solve the problem but reduced little bit. I compared with my note 20 ultra, xs max and my friend's 11 pro max. I found the 12 pro max screen is calibrated very warm.

So, I returned within a week and then ordered another one after a month and that device seemed little better but overall it's still more warm than other flagship oled screens.

Has anyone noticed that lately all phones with green tint use oled from samsung?
Last Lg oled with this issue were v30, pixel 2 xl and mate 20 pro.

Also, I havent seen posts about midrange phones with green tint screen.
