Even a broken clock (on a stick of mayo smeared TNT) is correct twice a day.
Banning Chinese apps does not help assuage, but neither does it amount to "Tradewars". It makes sense for US, and also any other country, to ban Chinese apps (all rhetoric aside) to simply further the economic well-being of competitor apps not belonging to a hostile state.
China has been playing from this rule book, taking it many steps further even, by either forcing all foreign corps to come under the complete oversight of the CCP or get no pass to even work inside China. Why should the rest of the world play by China's "Rules for thee, not for me" BS?

The only ones affected by this ban are probably mainlanders (who, surprise, they dont like the USA), so you shouldnt even be worried about this.
