I bought the FE because instead of a 400-500$ phone because most of the budget phones today aren't good enough. Plastic back is fine. go less lenses, less Megapixels, bigger sensors, better photos. Anything above 15W charging is a bonus, not a necessity. Big screens are fine. Go brighter instead of faster displays, if not both. I'd rather see my screen in the middle of a sunny day outside than have it move more smoothly or have more pixels. No NFC is a shame. 5G in a phone that won't even achieve Android 12 is simply dumb (Ehm, OnePlus N10).

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2021First of all, these phones were mid-range models from 4 yea... moreThe problem with Shamsung, and many others, is that they often release phones with a 1+ old version of Android so those 2017 models were released with Android 6 when the latest version was Android 7.

Please make a 2021 updated version of the A7 2017. The best phone I ever owned and it's still working perfectly.

MarcosSD, 04 Feb 2021What do you want more it's like 4 years even Google do... moreAt least we want as good and reliable phone as A3 2017.
New midrange models are trash - low gorila glass level, go glass back, no metal frame, no nfc, many software limitations apply for the new midrange models...
The build and software quality of the recent midrangers is worse than the quality of entry-level Samsung phones in 2017.
So at least we need the same level of reliability and functionality

                            That's fair

What do you want more it's like 4 years even Google don't give that much

This is way longer than most other Android OEMs especially considering these are midrange phones.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2021THIS is one of the reasons I no longer buy Samsung for myse... moreAre you stupid? Thes phone are nearly 4 years old and most people only use there phone for 3 years it wouldn't make much sense to support a device that long unless it's a flagship which would last longer and besides from Google Samsung is the only company that's support there devices for a long time

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2021THIS is one of the reasons I no longer buy Samsung for myse... moreFirst of all, these phones were mid-range models from 4 years ago (2017). They got 2 Android updates (Android 6 -> 8) and then for another 2 years of security updates until 2021.
For mid-range models, Samsung provides one of the longest software support from all Android manufacturers. They went EOL after 4 years they were available on the markets.
Software support is not cheap for the manufactures... "FREE forever"? Are you going to use your cheap midrange phone, as your main phone in 20 years from now?

"New phones are not guaranteed to start life in the fast lane, that is certainly not the case for the affordable models. The brand new Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M12 are starting off with quarterly updates."

At this point, I really applaud HMD Nokia's serious commitment about software update. Even the cheapest 2-series phone gets a timely update.
