Anyone using phones for business need to back up to local storage because the cloud isn't A) secure or B) reliably accessible. Dropping SD card support has always been about selling expensive phones and never about customer convenience.

I only clarified it when one of the members here diverted the subject and generalized the topic, like what you are trying to do.

            By all means, no one is stopping you from having your OTG adapters plugged in permanently to your smartphone because after all, you already admitted Micro SD is obsolete from your previous post.

              You keep saying that, but it does not prove your original point, which was that SD cards are obsolete, which is not true.

                Well that just changes the entire argument. Obviously if anything was for free, the most logical decision is to get the best one. But this was NOT the initial argument you made, therefore it is irrelevant.

                Even so, today's $100-500 DAPs have improved so much. Only the most extreme audiophiles will cash out $1000+ for an expensive DAP, meanwhile most other audiophiles (like me) will be happy with a $300-500 DAP.

                  But that doesn't make SD cards an obsolete technology. Say what you want about SD cards, but in the end you're not proving your point. If not in smartphones, SD cards will still continue to thrive in all other technologies. And besides, you can still use an OTG cable to read SD cards.

                  Well, that's precisely my point. So you agree that mechanical hard drives are obsolete in today's computers. Almost everybody agrees with that.

                  An SD card, however, is not mechanical. It is a circuit board, just like an SSD. So if you call an SD card obsolete, you're also saying SSDs are obsolete, which you obviously disagree.

                  Either you do not understand how an SD card works, or you need to make up your mind.

I doubt you will still choose the sub -$500 because in reality, you want the best as much as possible. Like what I've stated before, an audiophile will spend thousands of dollars for that perfect setup because they demand the highest sound quality possible, but sometimes, that highest sound quality is limited by how deep your pockets are.

Currently, how many 2021 flagships are there that have a Micro SD support? None. Even the Chinese brands - except Huawei, removed that feature, and according to this site's phone finder, last 2020 there are only 16 devices price ranges from 700 Euro and up that still have Micro SD support; most of them are Samsung and Huawei. I'm guessing you will still be holding on to your flagship device or settle for a mid-ranger in the near future. And why do you think gaming smartphones do not come with Micro SD support?

                            When was the last time you've seen a computer that still comes with a mechanical hard drive? Computer these days comes with an SSD, and most people who uses a mechanical hard drive upgraded to an SSD one. Most people I know do not even own an external hard drive because their setup is an SSD for their main drive and for their storage. And the moment I accidentally dropped my external hard drive, it was the day I switched to a portable SSD.

                                You don't need a $1000+ DAP. Any sub-$500 DAP is good enough, like the Hidisz AP80, Shanling Q1, or HiBy R5.
