Guys, isn't Variable Refresh Rate a feature of the displays, and not of the chipset?

Or, is the chipset-processor just an "advisor" on what RR should be used according to content?

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 03 Mar 2021Is there a reason why they don't put regular Snapdrago... moreBecause of DSP difference.
These are 4k capable with low processing power. No existing low budget SoC has that capability.

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2021mediatek sux lolNot really.

MediaTek should use more G57 cores in cellfone and other chipsets. Tablet chipsets they should move to 12nm process

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 03 Mar 2021Is there a reason why they don't put regular Snapdrago... moreFor smartphone soc to support hdr10, 4k and latest media capabilities you need atleast midrange soc or close to flagship level. Most of these TV box sold for sub $50.

But companies like Amlogic optimise low end soc to support latest media capabilities that's why in this market they dominate.

Is there a reason why they don't put regular Snapdragon or Mediatek chips on these TVs?

Cooling shouldn't be a problem with the surface area available.
Battery isn't a huge concern like on smartphones.

                      mediatek sux lol

                        This chipset is so useless.
                        1. HDMI 2.1 is just to fool people because it's only capable of 4k60 so HDMI 2.0 would be enough (eARC, VRR, ALLM are backwards compatible with 2.0)
                        2. Timing of the release. Because the 2021 TVs have just been announced an none is using it so..
                        3. This is not future proof because it's already underpowered at launch.

The S900 still seems to still be the only choice. Philips uses S900 for their mid- to high-end LCDs and OLEDs this year.

Android TV chips are ridiculously anemic and underpowered

Can it run minecraft bedrock for android TV? Or was that game removed from the appstore
