T-Mobile will automatically enroll all users in targeted ad data collection under new privacy policy

10 March 2021
The carrier will collect browsing and app usage data unless they opt out by April 26. Metro and Sprint subscribers are involved as well.

I searched hard on my phone and in my account. I came to the conclusion that because I use an unlocked phone that I did not buy from T-mobil that they never had the chance to install any apps that they could use to track me. They can't even tell me what kind of phone I am using and even though I know I am using 4G they claim I can't because they don't have data on my phone model. Best way to mess them up- don't buy a phone from them and as I have done I even switched the SIM card to a different phone after I signed up. They know nothing other than how to send me a bill and the phone numbers I call. I have multiple ad blockers so they never get to track that anyway.

Ok, am I mistaken or is it time for a decentralized crowsourced cellulra provider.
No joke, these companies like T-mobile do such a bad job and have the audacity to exploit their users to squeeze even more profit.
God forbid someone provide a decent phone plan

                                  I'm confused....
Is China the one that collect data?
                                  Or USA?

                                  Please enlighten me

So, now you need to install and sign in an app on your device just for better privacy? That's just heights of privacy invasion, its not even an agreement.
You're not even making people sign an agreement before including them in this data collection programme.
If this doesn't make you fear the United States' so called ''democracy'', nothing ever will.

I wanted to know, when will the time come when journalists openly bash companies for indulging in such behaviour?
I will never ever go to US, this is how organised of a data syndicate they are... They just want to know everything.

This can also be disabled through your acccount on T-Mobile's (incredibly slow and annoying) website.

I don't think disabling this setting means that data is not collected, however. It just means they won't use the data the collect on your surfing habits to target specific ads at you.

The only way to prevent the data from being collected is to use a trustworthy VPN service (like Mullvad, ProtonVPN, IVPN); that ought to protect your web surfing data. And then you probably would have to block some system processes and any T-Mobile apps from accessing the internet at all, by using a firewall.
