YouTube's mobile apps get new video resolution settings

The high quality mode does not work. I have an iPad Pro and very high speed internet 350Mb+, but it will still default to 480p even when 720p and 1080p are available. I have to select advanced on every single video I play, just to get good quality.

My problem is I literally cannot find the settings option in the new version of the app. I’d like to set higher resolution options for all videos and do some other stuff but the option seems unavailable.

if you unistall the mobile app this will change back to old style
uninstall only delete the update not youtube app !!

The new setting completely are all my data; as I was trying to watch audio rich video at 240p ; it kept switching to 720p for every consecutive video, even after manually doing it repeatedly it will load huge chunks of any video you click if your internet is fast. Very very annoying. I miss the old app, wish I didn’t update

Dammit Google. Why support all that ultra dumb and lazy people and make the life of us others so hard??? I want my WLAN Settings to 1440p (or whats best available at best) and my LTE settings to 480p (NOT 360, NOT 720, I have carefully tested how much it consumes on average per hour and therefore what I can afford with my data plan). Now I have, in LTE mode, switch it in EVERY video. Low quality sets it to 240p, it's to ugly, and high quality mode sets it to 1440p, to expensive :(

Have to change resolution for every video. Changing the settings doesn't do anything either or 360p is that "higher quality" who knows

I already hated enough the new ("user friendly", which is more like TikTok friendly) UI, the new comment placement, innapropiate ads, and too many ads, this is the icing on the cake!
Well, i wish i could root back to android 10...

It wouldn't be easier to add a default resolution setting for the user?
I don't need Youtube to make decisions for me.
I want to watch 720p, if it will take time to buffer, stop the video to buffer it. I don't want to change to 144p.
I have a fast connection, but it gets slow sometimes. But Youtube only knows to reduce the resolution, but they don't know how to increase again.

This is a ridiculous new feature to the YouTube service, once again they smooth out the features and make things worse for the rubes and simpletons of the world.
God forbid we have anything challenging or complex in our lives, why we might have to actually think for once!
This is worse then the olden days when YouTube had two settings for video quality, standard and high definition.

Why yt cant make it simple,all i wanted since 10 years ago is a fix resolution of what i chose,look at here majority who had wifi they easily get down to 240p,im using cellular i dont need goes above 480p,plus this setting goes 2 more step instead of one click,how dumb is that!

The new settings for quality do not work! Mine defaults to 144p which is unbearable for any decent person. I can easily switch to 1440p and it does not even buffer, so Im thinking their algo sucks at detecting network speeds.

I don't like the system, but the fact that the global settings don't stick, no matter how many times I've changed them is infuriating. I have to change it up from 480p every time. On a fast WiFi, it doesn't care. Every freakin time.

This new youtube update is the most dumb thing they ever did. Im always watching videos on 360p and I do believe I'm not the only one. Now that this stupid update came, I have to change the resolution of every videos that Im watching every single damn time and it is very annoying because there's no option like medium quality on the settings. It's just highest or lowest and that's it.
