Let them first solve all technical challenges;
Attach two monitors on a MacBook Pro M1
Making sure software developers of all classes can work with
Reduce the overheating issues (nice flat, but high performance and no/low cooling don't work.
Don't get me wrong, 80% of the company works with Mac. The 20% is or Admin or development environments don't allow Mac. From the 80% of Mac are 75% M1 with all complaints. But we continue and hope for better days

The M1 is faster than R7 I'm single thread. And has 4 big + 4 small cores. The small cores have the IPC perf in between Zen+ and Zen 2. So it won't be trounced, as so much as offer comparable performance.

CPU on the M1 beats any rivals on the ma... moreThe best CPU is an AMD Ryzen, not the Intel i7. The Apple M1 is a very impressive and power-efficient chip, that can punch well above its weight. However, if you pit it against the Ryzen Mobile 5800U then the M1 will get trounced in multi-core performance.
Things do look promising for the new Apple ARM chips, but (unlike your claim) they still do not beat "any rivals" in their market -- AMD is still alive and kicking, unlike Intel.

If they release it with white keyboard, I'll buy a black keyboard cover for it. Protects my shiny new laptop's keyboard, keeps it pristine, and beautifies it.
As for colors, I need it badly. Black is so mainstream and traditional. "Professional" look has to be monochrome? I won't bother with that at all as nowadays professionalism will be judged by your work results, not your gadget's color/shape, nor your fashion.

[deleted post]Battery life of the M1 MacBook Air is excellent. Removing the wedge shape means more battery in a thinner device, because it can go all the way to the front (trackpad area). I guess the battery will be the same size as now, or even if it was slightly less (which I doubt), the M2 efficiency improvements will make up for it.

Well, it actually looks cool. I like it better than the iMac. The iMac really needed 8k 12 bit autostereo (in 8k) rec2100 color gamut coverage 90%+ UV and xy, 8 top speed ports with fibre optic support (48mb/s is not enough) two insertable game card cards. Bluray 4k title and 3D support (let's not forget 2-8 tv tuners for recordings) slide forwards and lay down touch mode 30-40+ inches. See how that sells to a lot of pro, media pro users, and media and gaming fans. The issue has been, constraints on the iMac for years. Only so many people will buy what you got, same with iPhone.
