My Nissan Kicks-Nissan Connect app combination is really good though they can improve in providing more information. This is a great opportunity for them to get subscription by providing online audio streaming services like Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Music etc using the resin data plans. Apart from that fuel efficiency, documents, service calendar and dealer notification are some cool things in the App.

Anonymous, 24 May 2021Would still trust my car key, thanks.Exactly, improvement/innovation should not result in creating an additional vulnerability/point of attack to the system. Birds hacked early garage oppeners copying the sound/frequency to open the door long ago, what can humans do with this with the help of tools & tech...

Anonymous, 24 May 2021At first, this seems like a really good and productive idea... moreAs far as Im not a fan of some of new ideas and I still prefer older methods, wireless keys and button start are actually nice and useful. After few weeks using car that have it you realize that its just amazing and battery is not a problem at all.
As for security? After many years working in car workshop I can just say that opening even new car and starting it is in some cases even simpler than old brut-force keying doors and wiring it. Often all we need to open car was small radio frequency generator, computer OBD cable, some software and google because most of cars, just like phones have often weird methods of starting/unlocking car with some simple changes of connectors/cables(anyone who did FRP/google account bypass know what I mean)

Anonymous, 24 May 2021At first, this seems like a really good and productive idea... moreDunno if you ever had experience with wireless keys, but it does work exactly like that - car automatically unlocks when you grab the handle, you start engine with a button, turn it off same way, and when you slam the doors just touch the handle again and it's locked. Key just hangs in backpack/bag/pocket, no need to ever take it out.
Making it smaller would be cool, but it's not really an issue as is.

Couldn't forget how awesome to rider a BMW with an Ericsson phone in 007 Tomorrow Never Dies, that's really state of the art back in the years 1997.

At first, this seems like a really good and productive idea that would ease everyday life. But like with more and more technology these days, it is more of a burden than anything else.
Give me a small light, bank card like car key that i can put in a wallet and forget about it, that would be a step forward to a more productive future, not repetitive actions that i need to do with the phone to interact with a car. Then there is also thinking about battery depletion , security, etc..
Oh simple days, where have you gone...

Too much gimmick in a car, but does the average consumer really need such functions and charge them at an absorbent prices?
And when that tech breaks down (and break they surely will), will it be easy to find a replacement? Will that replacement not be phased out in like 5 years time? And most importantly, will it be cheap?
