In my locale, there are still Note 8 available for purchase (factory sealed). I suppose that Note 8 (non-pro) was overthrown in sales lately coz the Pro took the spotlight.
Xiaomi must have re.purpose Note 8 and add some extra goodies along with it.
For those whinning about this refresh from 2 years ago, you can really ignore it. This is for new comers in Android world... as this packs an MTK soc to keep the price low, as bugetwise possible.

The thing about budget phones is that you're getting the same functionality as flagships and usually more because they also come with a card slot, headphone jack and ir blaster. All you're really missing is less snappy performance and sometimes better photos.

There may be people who have a use for that macro camera. But if it's not there, people have less of a choice. Why would you spend unnecessary time cropping an image from the main camera?

In budget phones the most important thing is the optimization of the software. Because when you have poor hardware, you need good software to compensate.
