I think an example of a high end device in a compact body is the Meizu MX. That's actually what I thought the iP5 would look like instead of that elongated mess it turned out to be. In fairness, the iphone would also be an example of 'high end in a compact body'.

I can't believe people actually thought Samsung was going to take the EXACT specs of the S3 and just cram it into a 4 inch screen. Like how stupid would that be? However I do think this phone is unnecessary (like alot of phones carrying the Galaxy brand. It's more of a mini S2 if anything because it's specs are beneath that 1 year old former-flagship.

I think Samsung is just using the SIII 'name' to sell this phone by using the name of its best seller phone. Other than its outer shell. There's nothing resembles the SIII.
And if this phone is named SIII Mini, the NoteII should be called SIII Mega.

5MP camera, give me a break. The dual core downgrade is bad enough. How will Samsung (or any other Android phones) compete with the iPhone if the iPhone's primary selling point is that it's small enough to be used by one hand?
Bad move Samsung. I hope there would be another manufacturer who can venture the 4" below market without cutting off on hardware. There's virtually no Android phone below 4" that's good enough to compete with the iPhone.

As a consumer, when I see "S3 mini", my first thought is, it will have the same features as S3 but smaller size. But when I read the details, then I know it got a lower spec :(

Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is a cheaper version of Samsung Galaxy S3 just like Samsung Galaxy W is a cheaper version of Samsung Galaxy S2
