There's a difference between a product being bad and a product being down-rated because of its origin.
Same thing with cars, etc.
Also, Sennheiser is hella overrated.

Unlike the HD820, the Sony's bass intrudes into the midrange sufficiently that it makes for a heavy, if not quite muddy, sound."

I gave my cheap Sony MDR-ZX110 and MDR-E9LP to my sister. They are old but still work good. Now I have 4 of them all working great. SkullCandy Crusher Evo + Sony MDR-XB550AP + Anker SoundCore Liberty Air 2 + Remax RM-535. Bass is must have for me.

Almost 600 dollars? Are you kidding me? If noise canceling is must have go for Sony WH-1000xm4 or Bose 700. If you can live without noise canceling you can buy SkullCandy Crusher Evo. It is cheap but it has really serious bass heavy sound.
