08 August 2021

Do they make the screen now? I thought Samsung was the supplier.

I really wanted an Xperia X1 when I first saw the trailer ad for it from MWC in 2008. In fact, I was looking through eBay just a month ago to buy one only for collection. Decided to go against it.

Xperia X1 had a PPI of 312. Very close to Retina Display of 326 but 2 years released before iPhone 4.

Another sorry example of Sony incompetence and lousy marketing strategies throughout the years !!! Total waste of resources...

YUKI93, 08 Aug 2021And then there's Google who said FU to Windows Mobile ... moreMicrosoft and Google had an awful relationship by that point going through lawsuit after lawsuit. Why would Google want to help Microsoft, a competitor? Google only let Apple use their services because Apple never tried to sue Google and iPhones are popular..

Windows Mobile was DOA. Didn't even offer apps like Dasher which I use to make money. You can say at least Lumia were purposely "De-Googled". At least you weren't spied on by Google because Microsoft does that too.

I remember owning one of these.

Flashback series videos are really useful and enjoyable to watch. Thanks.

This phone was epic sans the camera. Traded my iPhone for this monster then bought the X10 the next year. Android that time had more apps so I have to switch.

YUKI93, 08 Aug 2021And then there's Google who said FU to Windows Mobile ... moreup to windows phone 8.1 it was already successfull, they had more than 50m userbase, more than 10 million device per quarter, 4% marketshare worldwide, Oem like Huawei started to embrace, most people were happy. in most market wp start to outsell ios devices.

then Microsoft bought Nokia division and release win 10
                      1. they discontinue majority of Nokia apps which were unique and differentiate wp with other platforms
                      2. windows 10 were buggy and no where near win 8.1 as daily driver
3.Nokia used bigger core (krait) in Lumia even in low end which gave them advantage over android phones, microsoft downgrade all series and start using cortex A7 and A5 which were slow, even in premium devices like lumia 830 they use cortex A7.

so it wa Microsoft failure which kill wp, sales were increasing even without google apps.

                        Hey cool!
I've owned an Xperia X1 and still have it somewhere. I loved it very much.
A modern version, thiner and with a bigger screen, would be nice.

Unfortunately for some of these the border frame broke after some years, so also mine
has a broken frame. But it's still working.

The last versions of Windows Mobile had also been very interesting and competetive to Android. But by that time it was already too late, so Windows Mobile vanished from the market.

It didn't choose the wrong OS.... the phone was great for it's time and there wasn't really anything to march it.

I still have mine. Sadly, it went away after the mechanism stopped working, causing display malfunction. Probably flex cable

[deleted post]And you certainly don't pay attention to what are you typing up about. You just typed up bunch of nonsense but since you never used Xperia phone such as XZ2 let alone XZ2 Premium it doesn't surprise me that you are typing bunch of nonsense.

I really loved the icons and the UI in general but the main reason why I never got it was the lack of apps, mostly the lack of youtube and the Opera browser a browser that I use to this day on my phone

[deleted post]What is wrong with 4K screen? Sony OLED 4K screen is better than other screens. It is not bright like Samsung screen but you can see all content on it in the middle of the day. XZ3 had OLED QHD screen and it was the best screen in that time.

The SEX X1 holds a strong place in my heart. I never had any problem with my phone until I started to try different ROMs. ROMs alone made the phone live longer than it should though.
Everything about this phone and its package was just wow. The earphones that came with it surprised me the most. Great sound with deep bass.
If a similar phone from Sony were released today, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
