Spanky, 13 Aug 2021I appreciate your arguments and for keeping the discussion ... moreAmen!

Sadly, the Android market is not about "diversity and everyone finds what he likes" anymore, anything other than mainstream is super rare.
And well, I am mostly defending the pop up against those who criticize it for no reasons and simply saying some truth about the Underdisplay camera.

I am not a fan of pop-ups, as you have seen before, but I hope that everyone gets the features and technologies that they want. That’s what’s so great about the Android OEMs, in general. Personally, I can’t wait for the under-display cameras to mature and become mainstream.

However, I think that sometimes you are trying too hard to convince people to embrace a certain technology which you personally like. That can have the opposite effect and can turn people away.

    Cheers!

You shouldn't have said BS about a tech that don't deserve all this badmouthing.

He defends many techs, pop up being one of them, but since it is a constant target of haters, he obviously answers a lot more about it than other things, which make you think he is obsessed while in fact those who try to badmouth it do it in an obsessive manner.

Also, he is pro new technologies, but people don't understand it because he simply tells the ugly truth about a single new one or talks about future tech that people apparently can't figure out.
And he has proven with actual real life evidence that privacy is really important, a fact which every cybersecurity experts agree with, but also many smart people, and lack of it have caused more than enough harm to prove it, going as far as causing people death, but since we are a bunch of ignorants who think real life facts aren't important, we will disregard it just so we can keep living inside our own little bubble and hope it never burst.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2021Was the only good Xiaomi phone until all of a sudden Xiaomi... moreYes, even forgetting the pop up, it is still one of the rare phones with a premium SoC that has a Jack, no camera bump, it was the first with a 5Mp TeleMacro which was by far the best at the time of release, and many other goodies like that!
It lacked so little features to be the perfect phone!
Replacing that 2Mp depth by the K30 Pro Zoom's 8Mp 3x Telephoto, switching the TeleMacro from 5Mp to 8Mp, giving it OIS, wireless charging, and an independent SD Card Slot.

It CAN allow for IP rating, there are many solutions for this.
And the Poco F2 Pro is IP53 rated, hating is one thing, not knowing what you talk about and still badmouthing is another.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2021The Poco F2 Pro doesn't have udc, wireless charging, p... moreTHANKS it doesn't have this UDC gimmick horror!

Ok, so the UDC beloved Axon 30 who doesn't have wireless charging, periscope zoom lens (which by the way is NOT a "zoom") or stereo speakers is bad, noted.

Yeah, LARGEST VAPOR COOLING CHAMBER IN THE WORLD at its time of release, regardless what SoC it is, the point still stand, the Poco F2 Pro have many space consuming features and yet still rock an above average battery capacity to body volume ratio WHILE being lighter than some flagships AND not thicker than the norm, proving, once again, that this anti-pop up thing is purely irrational.

*It could have had a wireless charging, but the same anti-pop up brain-dead idiots that speak against it often did speak against wireless charging, look up how many acted about it like you act against the pop up, this is why it isn't often a thing in MANY phones, which just happen to include this one too.

*The K30 Pro Zoom do have a Telephoto, but again, for a while there were anti-telephoto saying that Wide and Ultra-Wide is all you need, so don't come and cry that many phones don't have it.
Also, the Poco F2 Pro don't have a camera bump.
If rather than being stupid like you are, the smartphone community was more united and wasn't about trying to get features killed, things like 2Mp horror sensors could have been gone and the Poco F2 Pro, regular K30 Pro could have had its 5Mp TeleMacro + a 8Mp Telephoto.

*Don't even get me started on how much front firing speakers and stereo speakers were treated by people like you and for how long, trying to make the bezel disappear and now crying that a feature you probably yourself fought against isn't on a phone you could just not buy.

They could have put those, remember, it still has MORE battery capacity than the Mix 4, and NO camera bump!
Because your space argument also apply to the Mix 4 with its 4500mAh in 2021.

manufacturers are moving away from pop up cameras because you won't be able to get IP67 or IP68 certification with that, maybe not even IP53

rizki1, 11 Aug 2021maybe pop up cameras cost a lot to produce? and also not du... moreExcept it doesn't, which is why many of the phones with had pop up were among the cheapest of their category, the Poco F2 Pro/K30 Pro is one of the cheapest with the SD865 just like the Mi 9T Pro/K20 Pro was one of the cheapest with the SD855.
There are 100-200$/€ phones with pop up, it is easy to R&D and the components are super cheap, a simple electric motor, few metal parts and an enclosure for the camera, that's all.

The first phone with a pop up, the Vivo Nex A & Nex S are now over 3 year old, most users change their phone in 2 years, the vast majority of the reminding people on in 3 years, yet this phone didn't prove that the pop passed the test of time, it did it with no sign of issues whatsoever.
There are no sign of premature wear, and I am sure most could still work in 10 years if people were to kept their phone that long.

There are a LOT of reasons why someone might want to use wired option, removing this is NOT for the user, it is only for forcefully selling wireless equipments, just look at Apple's Airpods revenue, and you'll understand why they did it.
The GOLDEN RULE of computer (which smartphones are), is to NOT remove actively used standards and to keep compatibility, which is why the latest phones are still compatible with Wi-Fi A, Bluetooth 1.0, USB 1.0, 2G, 3G and 4G.
I don't see why I couldn't pay an expensive phone and not be able to natively use my 100€ Corsair Void Pro on it, same with people owning 500€+ wired headphones.

Snapdragon 870 is way to go now. Also, snapdragon 780G is manufactured by Samsung 5nm technology. Heating issues. That's why more OEMs are preferring snapdragon 778G which is manufactured by TSMC.

Samsung is focussing on Exynos 2200 along with integration of AMD GPU in their phones as well as Same combination for Midrange A series so the end result is snapdragon 898 won't be that good.
