Android 12 has a cool system-wide search feature that isn't active yet

03 September 2021
It can be enabled with a Magisk module on rooted phones, but it seems incomplete. What works so far looks promising, though.

[deleted post]We talk about a COMPARISON METHOD, not about what iOS is worth.
And yeah, with iPhones breaking sale records every year and unconditional Apple fans, everyone shares your opinion, sure...

[deleted post]Again, if you are a Samsung, Sony or OnePlus dedicated Fan or don't buy any other brands, or simply have only one phone at the time and your next phone will be of the same brand, what does Honor, Xiaomi or Realme exclusive features have to do with you if you were to hesitate between or want to compare an Android and an iPhone?
If you either want the iPhone 12 Max Pro or the S21 Ultra, the features of MIUI will have absolutely NOTHING to do in the equation.

That's why I agree with him, he is right on this point, and the only counterargument is if you actually hesitate between multiple brands, at least you have the chance to pick which feature combo you prefer the most.

But this Android fragmentation is a bad thing regardless, not because there is variety, but because each brand have literally its own OS variant, in fact every phone model has its own OS, rather than working like iOS, Linux (which it is made from) or Windows where it would rather be custom additional programs and drivers, which would allow any experimented users to EASILY export them to ALL phones, rather than as for now where modders need to make one variant per phone.

It is valid during comparing with iOS AND with itself, as it could be a MASSIVE pro of Android vs iOS, but they choose the wrong path.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2021Android is light years ahead of anything that iOS has to offer Maybe, I honestly don't know, I have zero experience with iOS, but this isn't the point, it was about how to compare both.

RejZoR wrote, it makes senses to only compare iOS to stock Android and not to variant who have exclusive features.

Stock Android has the least feature set to offer out of all Android skins.

Another feature that stock android users are gonna like. Good thats its actually ginna be part of all android phones soon. But for me I've been using this feature for sometime now. Good thing that android have a lot of skins giving ideas to google on what to put on the next android update.

nice, waiting for my phone to not receive the update anytime soon

Plus, some older phones, just a few years old, don't get the latest Android version and the OEM's features that comes with it.
So compared to ALL phones, it is indeed very few.

Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and OPPO have about 70% combined Android phone market shares, and none of them use stock Android. People who use stock Android are the minority. It's true that not every brand have the same feature set, but most Android users have access to features not available in stock Android.

If tomorrow one OEM release the best "insert any category here" software ever, but no one else have access to it, it will still not mean that Android has a whole have the same level of excellency overall for this thing.

Comparing Windows and MacOS, yeah, sure, perfectly works.
And while in a sense, Android variety that bring unique features among brands is part of its upsides, you can't consider those features unique features as parts of the whole Android package as only few can have it.

It would be like saying that Android looks better than iOS while your Android is heavily moded, rooted and have apps such as NovaLauncher and stuff like that.
Sure, the fact that Android "allow" so many things like that is in its favor, but those things themselves aren't part of Android itself.

It would be like saying that Android have to be compared to Windows while taking into account iOS and Linux features because Linux and iOS are build from Unix and Android from Linux.
