Huawei did the same with their harmony OS, when they degoogled, the battery gains were tremendous.

It had nothing to do with the A14/A15 chip.
You won't see any improvements in battery life on Android, if the SOC inside was switched to Apple's Ax series.

          I have the Note 20 Ultra and I can say youre not missing out on anything if you dont have the gimmick promotion display. Its cool for a week and then you totally forget it exists.

It has the same battery life as the iPhone 12 Mini (according to gsmarena reviews), and yes, at 120Hz on a larger screen but with an extra 1000 mAh. And the size difference is somewhat subjective, due to it's foldable nature. It's much shorter when folded but wider and double as thick.

Realistically speaking, how well would you expect an Android phone with a 2227 mAh battery and a top SoC to do? Because that's what the 12 Mini has to work with. Say they even managed to cram a ~2500 mAh cell in a phone that small, battery life would still be atrocious. Android doesn't have that software-hardware sinergy that iPhones do. It's much easier for Apple to design iOS around a singular set of hardware than it is for Google to keep it as tight. Maybe the Pixel 6 will be a step in the right direction, who knows.

That's why I don't think a flagship level Android phone the size of the iPhone Mini would have decent battery life. Also, people keep bringing up the Zenfone 8 for some reason. While relatively compact for a current Android phone, it's considerably larger than the iPhone Mini.

                                [deleted post]I am talking about Improvements over the last generation. It doesn't mean that it's worth to upgrade from just 12 months old models.

                                They improved the shortcomings that the two basic iPhone 12 (mini) models had. They now have a longer lasting battery, double the base storage, brighter screens, better camera sensors + IBIS stabilizer and 50% more RAM. The basic iPhone 13 (mini) got most features that the last years iPhone 12 Pro Max had, at a lower price.

                                Please keep your immature name calling ("iboy" etc.) out of the comment sections. This is against the GSMarena rules and also very childish. You don't even know what device i am using.

Apple use far smaller batteries than most Android makers, and yet battery life is... Certainly not as far behind as the capacity implies.

                                      I really wish they'd go properly big in battery once though just to see what they could do with an Android-like capacity. Potentially they'd have a massive and very easily sold USP.
