15 November 2021
The new name for the Snapdragon 898 probably makes more sense.

            Thanks qualcomm, you are amazing...
            Changing name 898 to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will rock and destroy M1 chip and let apple cry.
            Ohhh yea, of course shamesong going to commit suicide...

            This is not only a simple name change folks, this is a miracle!!!!
            tomorrow will no more just tomorrow, it will be Tomorrow Gen 1...

              The only thing I really care about is how it performs. And that the name isn't too corny.

                JustAThought, 16 Nov 2021Won't be long before we get Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.5 or Ge... moreOr maybe SD 8+ Gen 1

                  Anonymous, 16 Nov 2021Exynos 1 Gen 1 ? Where is the purported ' inspiration'?Did I say it was inspired by Exynos? And I wad talking about my idea of naming Snapdragon SoCs go back and ready that comment first

SD888= F21 SD888+= F21+ SD870=K21 SD778G=U21 SD778G+= U21+ (We initially had SD780G but the microchip drought ended its run short) SD690= M21 SD695=M21+ SD480= E21 SD480+= E21+ I probably missed 2-3 SOCs but for the sake of our little fantasy that won’t come true since Qualcomm already named our F22s as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 so It was fun creating a mew terminology with you LGFan

                        LG Superfan, 16 Nov 2021Yeah inspired by Samsung not gonna lieExynos 1 Gen 1 ? Where is the purported ' inspiration'?

                          Goddess Lyrienne, 15 Nov 2021Quite a good name schematics... not gonna lie... :oYeah inspired by Samsung not gonna lie

                            Anonymous, 15 Nov 2021Makes sense until the Mid Rangers, since you gave an x afte... moreI gave X to mid rangers because Qaulcomm usually releases 3 or 4 mid range SoCs unlike flagship SoC which is released once a year (plus is just an overclock) so if Qualcomm releases two mid range SoC how will you accomodate them by denoting it with year? X for position gives much more flexibility

                              It is more logical for the naming scheme, to use ARMv9 as a new platform with a new moniker. For instance, Qualcomm Snapdragon (QSD) ---> Qualcomm Spry Kraken (QSK).
                              Then we can use the "level" first, followed by the model number. And the model number can be made that it corresponds to the year it was released in. Last thing that would make it superb, is if they simplified their portfolio, so as to not use a dozen products for the same solution and confuse OEMs, Developers, and Consumers.

                              For example:
                              Year ============= 2022 ------ 2023 ------- 2024 ------ 2025
                              USD $999 Luxury == QSK 920 - QSK 930 - QSK 940 - QSK 950
                              USD $700 Flagship = QSK 720 - QSK 730 - QSK 740 - QSK 740
                              USD $500 High-end = QSK 520 - QSK 530 - QSK 540 - QSK 550
                              USD $300 Midrange = QSK 320 - QSK 330 - QSK 340 - QSK 350
                              USD $200 Low-end == QSK 220 - QSK 230 - QSK 240 - QSK 250
                              USD $100 Entry level = QSK 120 - QSK 130 - QSK 140 - QSK 150

                              The gist is:
                              900-series: Best Node nm, 5G+, Best Audio, Best Cpu, Best Gpu, Best Npu,
                              700-series: Best Node nm, 5G+, Best Audio, Great Cpu, Great Gpu, Best Npu,
                              500-series: Great Node m, 5G+, Great Audio, Great Cpu, Great Gpu, Weak Npu,
                              300-series: Great Node nm, 5G, Good Audio, Good Cpu, Good Gpu, Weak NPU,
                              200-series: Good Node nm, 5G, Good Audio, Poor Cpu, Good Gpu, No NPU,
                              100-series: Good Node nm, 4G, Good Audio, Weak Cpu, Weak Gpu, No NPU,

                              For example:
                              QSK 920: 5nm - 8CU gpu - CPU: 1L + 3M + 4S
                              QSK 720: 6nm - 4CU gpu - CPU: 4M + 4S
                              QSK 520: 8nm - 4CU gpu - CPU: 3M + 5S
                              QSK 320: 12nm - 2CU gpu - CPU: 2M + 6S
                              QSK 220: 10nm - 1CU gpu - CPU: 1M + 7S
                              QSK 120: 16nm - 1 Small gpu - CPU: 8S (8 small cores)
