Google Messages app prepares photo sharing via Google Photos, hamburger menu may return

The Google Photos upload option would appear whenever attempting to send over MMS.

Looks all a bit sneaky from Google.
1.) Claim to rescue a dead standard and redirect all traffic via their servers, but actually undermine relevance of SMS. MMS is dead since WhatsApp came along.
2.) Integrate own proprietary picture cloud to further confuse things

In the meantime: Evolution moved on.

            I'm in south east asia.
            Right now, nobody use sms or mms anymore. Especially mms. Very expressive. Only carrier sending junk sms & mms selling horoscope & ring back tone and other junk product. I already turn off mms auto download in my phone & It would be great if i could delete sms ability in my phone.

              I am not sure in the rest of the world but in Europe MMS messaging is not included in fixed cost bundles of minutes/texts/data and they are extremely expensive. Spending one euro to share a picture is going to make users so happy LOL... There is WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and another 100 ways to share pictures for free but of course Google needs to provide another useless service (that obviously will be phased out and discontinued in a couple of years because nobody uses it).
              Seriously how many services has Google launched and then folded because nobody cared? Any other company would have fired half their management at this stage.

                            What I really wish from SMS/MMS is the ability to shut it down if the user want because I receive too many advertisement from the carrier and "unknown" number.

                            What make me even mad about SMS is the "SMS class 0" and "carrier information" (USSD). It just pop when I use the phone. And if I push the wrong button, my money will be gone (subscribed to junk services)

                                Photo sharing through MMS?? and the other days Google asked Apple to adopt RCS and yet Google want to build a features to share pictures over MMS?! 😳 Very lame 🤦🏻‍♂️

                                  I am getting sick and tired of so many useless features in an SMS app. Wr already have so many fully featured internet messengers. Why do we need more complications in SMS?

                                  I think I might need to look for alternatives
