I think EU wants some of the $ FB makes off its local users. My take: In order to get that, they’re trying to force them to put up a location, fill it with servers, employees and pay utilities/taxes. They don’t deserve a tax break tho. Shut it down.

friend, those are tricky privates companies, they easily say to us that we already use their services for free, that alone has included years of manpower, thousands of hdd, hundreds of servers, offices and utilities, legal, and customer already use it for free

The US has poor protection for data privacy. Besides, Facebook doesn't need to process most of its data in the US. They just don't want to change how they do things to protect you.

And if the us government wants your data than no EU law can stop them

I quit fb and instagram a couple of years ago, I haven't missed it one bit. If they do not want to play by EU rules then that is fine, it can close down. Maybe people will start realising that there is an actual life outside of fb and maybe people may start getting one. I'm sure that people will find it a little difficult for a while, but after a short time if detox things will be better than before. We are social animals not (anti)social (media) animals...on the subject of our data being sold for profit, isn't it odd that they sell our data and we do not see a penny or cent from this?? This should apply to all those companies that sell our data, if they want to use my data then they can pay me for it!
