Samsung will only update the Galaxy A51 twice a year from now on

08 February 2022
That's really odd, as the phone isn't that old.

What a joke. And I thought that this phone getting quarterly updates compared to the A50, which was getting monthly updates was ridiculous. Now this is just sad. Given that I just got an A52s, I don't know if I can trust Samsung to push monthly updates for this model forever either, given that it probably won't be as popular as something like the A52 5G.

          Whyki, 09 Feb 2022> I love people complaining about the bi-annual security... moreAgreed people really just want to hate on samsung more than any other OEM it is crazy. As long as people get the 3 year updates and it still gets security updates during the year its all good. The amount of people i know hwo have iphones and when they get an update they take weeks to download it :/

            What Scamsung is trying to say is please buy our new phones every year

It is common knowledge that number of years of OS updates and support a smartphone receives is primarily and most importantly decided by the CPU in it and the CPU manufacturer's long-term support.
                That is one of the primary reasons Apple is able to give longer support and updates.

                Also, this is only moving to phone to bi-annual support. Not great in my opinion but not terrible either. Samsung has kept its promises of updates for the last 3 years consistently and I see no reason why that would stop just because of a bi-annual cadence.

                      Whyki, 09 Feb 2022> I love people complaining about the bi-annual security... more*correction

                      A50 = enterprise model
                      A50s = not enterpeise
                      A51/ 5G = not enterprise
                      A52/ 5G = enterprise
                      A52s = enterprise

                      That would explain why A50s and A51 dont get monthly security patch.

                        May be, because Samsung advertised prolonged security updates? Because A51 model is from enterprise segment where one of the benefits was support & security? Or because they actually do care for security?

                        Personally I do care for such a things. I do observe in which support tier is given line/model put and based on that I make my buying decision. And I'm not buying phone for a year... or just two.

                          I love people complaining about the bi-annual security updates on a 2 year old phone.
