An actual mac pro succesor is coming soon with 4 M1 Maxes on board. That 240W GPU is going to destroy even Nvidia's 500W RTX 4000 series GPUs.
Meanwhile, we have the mac studio, which is a high-end mini PC.
All those other NUC mini PCs are using chips that are equal to the stuff on high-end gaming laptops. That's because those PCs don't have enough room to cool a better performing chip.
On the other hand, apple managed to fit 2 of their high-end laptop chips into the mac studio, because they only use 95W of power max. So, the mini PCs are performing equally compared to high-end laptops, while the mac studio is delivering double the power of a high-end laptop. How could the mac studio not perform better?

It's not apple's fault that their chips are faster than everything else on the market except for gaming, as the developers are too lazy to support ARM chips for their heavy duty games.
Let me tell you: the minute that high performance games get ARM support, they'll be no more reason to buy a gas-guzzling 1000W gaming GPU anymore when a 120W GPU is destroying it.
That's literally how good ARM chips are.

We were able to do some things that are completely bonkers and outside of a normal production use case. All I can say is do your own research or waste your money. Personally IDC which you do, but hopefully others see my comment and can save themselves a grand or two.

The big problem we have at our business is not the hardware as such (although its expensive compared to windows pc hardware or similar spec), but more the software angle.
3D software is more tuned to PC these days which is one problem. The bigger problem is buy new hardware and forced to have latest macOS, you can't roll back to older version.
Not a problem if solo professional, but if have 100s macs and many bits of software critical to business which you have to test works on new OS, it's a nightmare.
Esp as apple like to depreciate and remove APIs quite "rapidly", or quicker than the 3rd party vendors can update their software (and new licensing costs too).
Windows is crap in it's own ways, but more enterprise friendly in that backwards compatibility is maintained (20 year old apps still work etc).
Also if you have old hardware that can't take the new OS and new hardware that can't take old version, you are in a bad place enterprise wise.

Perhaps the title should have been "Apple's most powerful desktop computer ever that can never proper run a game like a gaming PC". They are expensive, hyped and they are a niche product that very few can afford only to edit some videos..pfff

Well I used to own the M1 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM before I sold it in favour of the Intel NUC 11 Enthusiast. Did I regret that decision? No, not even slightly. If anything, I don't think I miss my old Mac Mini.
