With google's apps on it clearly is not a privacy phone.

Looks like it has the default google telephone app, a bit of a missplay when calling it 'privacy focused'.

If it has GrapheneOS on it that would be cool. If it just ships with a few privacy apps, like Signal and Brave, as the default apps, that will really be pretty meaningless.

I also wonder how long the phone will get security updates for? Since it's using a Qualcomm processor, they're limited by Qualcomm to four years. If they claim more it's would be bogus. Of course they also have to not go out of business after one year like Essential.

Osom should have been working on their own OS. Google itself is privacy invasive.

It's really no different than the Essential Phone but geared towards privacy. I still love ny Essential Phone but Snap835 is showing its age after 5 years. Can't really play AetherSX2 on it. The 845 is the minimum and I can tell it has the faster GPU. The 835 had better efficiency but the 845 feels faster.

If they rely on open-sourcing as much as possible, instead of privacy through obscurity, it might be your best shot at privacy and security in 2021.

I still think it's stupid for a phone to have X2-type cores and "gaming GPU's", but according to some security people I know Qualcomm doesn't care enough to integrate modern security features into reasonable SoC's like the 780G.

Interesting phone. Sounds very premium. But calling it privacy-focused when it comes with Google is a bit of a joke. Is that a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone?

File transfer happens wirelessly (1gbps866mbps). Maybe i was playing around with adb commands but apart that my cable is always on the 5w charger i got with my first android phone.
