It's still good software wise, costs less and SD 778G is actually pretty capable chipset. I don't think Exynos 990 or SD 865 are that much faster. There is some difference in cameras and build, but not as much as there is in price still.

galaxy a71 user, 01 Apr 2022S20 has only has 1 OS update left. A53 has 4.I think that hardware is the most important thing in a phone. Software can always be updated/changed. If your phone is no longer supported, you can always root it and update it to the latest version. You can't do that with hardware.
Also, like someone else said, the differences between the latest Android versions are minimal. As for security updates, don't go on sketchy websites and don't install apps just because you can. Stick to well known apps and you'll be fine.
Choosing A53 instead of S20 Plus is simply a BIG no-no.

You just all want ultra flagship specs for as little money as possible, even if that means you literally get zero software updates, ever. It's why people are leaving for Apple or Samsung phones, because they at least update stuff and update them for long time.

I'd say stick to the A52s 5G for less, it's a better phone overall with similar features, OIS and IP ratings..

Of course not, even more the differences between Android versions nowadays are marginal, and you can always install a custom ROM if you really need the latest Android.

A52s 5G much better deal, charger in the box, better SoC with more performance, cameras are as good and you can get it under 300 now.
