jijo, 24 Jan 2013must have a slim design and 4.5" screen other wise it ... moreThe 808 is not a LET DOWN...its a hugely successful cameraphone...if u think u can make it slimmer, then try...dont think any other company would even make something coz they cant make it even as slim as the 808 which has a slim design for the huge sensor and image processor its packing....

The 808 can compete with DSLRs in terms of daylight performance and detail...in daylight, it has comparable detail to a 5D. There's a gsmarena article comparing them...which means, the 808 can so easily beat entry level DSLRs...It doesnt have the most needed controls for aperture...etc but it does produce stunning detail...thats wat people are fighting about...

wow, fandroids on fire, well it's a Nokia topic so nothing new here and only for something that isn't confirmed yet by Nokia:). But as much as I love Nokia I don't think they will produce such an incredible device this year, 808 was more like a statement, one of a kind. The same was said about 920 and it came with a different senzor and then there is the simple fact that one guy also pointed in the posts here, Nokia has the 1st place with 808, the 2nd with N8, and the competition is "struggling" in the 8-13mp zone so the difference it's huge. They have something that they could market for a long time from now on and a 16 or 18mp, 13 why not? it would make much more sense IMO. I know they could make it happen if they wanted - wp + 808 = love:) but I don't think they will so soon. Anyway, it's a good thing that there is a company out there trying to actually innovate, not just simply race for cores and full hd screens...

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2013Can someone explain to me what the hype is all about? Sure ... morewho cares what hou like? I bet you never hold a 808 in your hands and you don't even know what symbian belle is. Yet... You talk. Go play with a pureview first then come here and talk. It is quite super. Doesn't feel heavy at all. In fact. It feels like you are holding a premium device and not ”i'm worried will fall and die” crap. But i don't expect you to understand what that is. It is not big. It is a good smartphone, quite a very good one, with premium photography capabilities. Not intereset? Go buy some toiletplastic phones and let people use and like what they want.

AnonD-77544, 24 Jan 2013Haha r u kiddin me did u just said that 808 can compete wit... moreNOKIA are trying what's practically possible on something called a "mobile phone" with a smaller profile, hence trying to compensate for quality found on real DSLRs with alternates e.g. shooting images with a bigger sensor and then stitching them together from a 41MP raw form to about 8MP standard image form which exhibits a lot more details & noise-free images than a standard 8MP found on any other phone. Doesn't NOKIA deserve a word of appreciation for this? What do you want on a phone then? A real DSLR with interchangeable lenses? Comeon grow up!!!

AnonD-78985, 24 Jan 2013Lol you got me. I can admit that i have made a mistakes by ... moreHey, here is not about what is better then what, here is about what is what. So, i'm sorry for being rude but i get a bit "crancky" when a see so much nonsense comming from people. People this days need to learn and to educate before even doing a speach. We forgot forgot who we are and the purpose of a speach/comment/talk. Keep it smart and low if you don't know. SLR cameras are mostly made for people hanging them by the neck and doing a shooting day. But this guys will shore like to have them day by day, everyday and hanging a slr camera daily is a bit frustrating. Now, compact cameras are for amateur photography but usefull for profesional photographers to cause are not so heavy and big (there are cameras with better sensor then others who will capture good pics, but that don't make them slr and won't kill one either as some useless reviews said about new smart-cameras). A profesional photographer will have one of those to, so to balance the heavyness. But i'm preatty shore they will be more then happy to hold a 808 intead of a compact cameras. Easyer to carry verry good quality pics (better then most compact cameras) and quite small also a smartphone. Now, people who buy this devices are tired to take crappy pics, and i am in that league. 38 megapixels is for creating. And Nokia doesn't brag about the size, it brags about what a pureview technology can do. And to have this technology, they need allot of megapixels. The more the pixels are, the better image comes out. So when i see people talking nonsense and don't even bother to read something before, i get red eyes. Now, i hope you got it, a compact camera in front of dslr camera is like a nokia asha in front of symbian. Does allot of smart things but is not a smartphone. Reaches the purpose of a smartphone. But is not. They are two different things and will never be the same. So, Slr cameras are slr cameras and compact cameras are compact cameras, no metter the megapixel and the quality of the pics. They are what they are and made for a purpose.

For this to truly work, Nokia can't just pull the "OK here's the world's most advanced mobile imaging sensor ever. On a smartphone. And it runs on WP8" stunt. Look at competing models such as Sony's Xperia Z and take note of the more novel ideas.

For starters the IP certification. That to me even if it's a non-core spec, it's a highly regarded feature for most seasoned mobile gadget users who thinks that kits should have been life-proof a long time ago.

And not to repeat this but a non phablet camera phone these days are to put it mildly a dumb idea so take that into serious consideration. IMAGES and VIDS on a non 5"+ scr? Think..

Have u heard of Nikon D3200, its the best budget entry level dslr camera better than ur Nokia 808 pureview n that too in the same price.
U cant say that 808 can compete with a dslr they r just two different things, 808 is just for amateur phone users who want a good camera in their phone unlike the dslrs which r for real camera lovers n pro photographers
Camera is not only about mega pixels n that nokia needs to understand there is a lot more in camera like aperture, frames, etc
so go n tell this shit to someone else who doesnt know about dslrs .

U know whag dslr is or which lens fits in which dslr???? Hiw much a single lens costs???? Btw fyi in any slr u need to purchase separate lens other then the one that u have as default.... And dont talkn nonsense i have seen what galaxy s3,s pic luk on big screen along vid 808 and n8 . It cant beat n8 itself( the phone i still have other then my htc) , you know what if you compare 808 with your galaxy crap then you are still studying in high school, grow up kiddo..... And you are talking about sensors in slr??? And you are saying that mp dont count???? If u have even the slighgest information bout slr u should better know that aperture, lens focal are the other things to take care of, this phone can easily compete with entry level slr but will definatly struggle with high end slr,, but for the cheap price if you are gettin somethin gud( worth money) why nt spend. So open yourneyes and see the real GALAXY AND WORLD OTHER THEN YOUR 4.8 PLASTIC GALAXY. Windows is fast fluid no hiccups....and btw sony stands nowhere near to the camera quality nokia produces, nor do iphn frgt bout samd@ng....

Can someone explain to me what the hype is all about? Sure this phone has the best camera but that's about it, other 2012 and 2013 beat it in most cases. Phone cameras these days have already evolve soo much that they have great quality photos to capture those precious moments. But if we are talking about taking pictures of the Great Pyramid or the Taj Mahal etc. I would certainly have with me a DSLR or a good point and shoot. In conclusion I want a phone that's thin and compact, with decent camera and today's technology. The Nokia 808 simply is too big, heavy, not many features, old software, not many apps, no full HD screen and it's basically just good for taking pictures, texting and calling.

So anyone wanna help me out why I should get this phone?
