While India did some good ban and torublemaking decisions to some brands, this one isn't on their side. Xiaomi is shady and no one can deny it, coming from someone who used only Xiaomi phones for quite some time now.
But to tell you the truth, they do more good than harm, even when they take your data for advertisement. You get a nice spec phone for example at a hard to beat price, for instance.
But their fishy behavious is sometimes unnecessary, just giving them more untrustworthy vibes. I have no idea what are they thinking about.

You are also wrong about Indian economy is doing well. India's GDP growth is rising, but inflation is out of control and unemployment is all time high. You are basically acting like how an Indian politician like to boast about the 'double digit GDP growth' but failed to see the problems facing the average Indians.

The Chinese companies are major employers, so to ask them to leave would mean unemployment for thousands of Indians.

While Xiaomi has been making some great phones, along with so many other innovative products, it must adhere and abide by the laws of countries it operates and manufacturers in. If such a breach were committed in China, heads would roll. Both figuratively and literally.

For xiaomi, 725 million USD is like the total profit of 10 years of business.

For samsung, 725 miliion USD is about fewer than 1% of profit per year.

For apple ,725 million USD is literally just a profit every 3 days of business.
