Kek Tech, 17 May 2022I have the fold 3 and it has been an awful phone. At first ... moreThat's why I say the option for battery protection 85% charge from the beginning. No degradation for me.

I have the fold 3 and it has been an awful phone. At first it was the greatest phone I've ever had, I love the huge screen on it but now nearly 8 months into ownership the battery barely lasts 12 hours, I have to plug it in as soon as I get home from work. Also apps are more glitchy than any phone I've owned. For example, youtube comments cause the video you are watching to just close out, snapchats that I receive load infinitely until I force close the app. Also opening the big screen while in youtube causes a black screen and pressing the power button or volume buttons does nothing. I really hate that Samsung is making the new device more squared on the inside screen because this means a smaller effective viewing area for video, this doesn't even scratch the surface on how bad samsungs customer care is.

P C M, 11 May 2022Sorry for misunderstanding. But In most western countries... moreIn USA you only tied to contract if you want your phone to be financed. If you pay in full phone is not locked to any operator.

P C M, 11 May 2022Sorry for misunderstanding. But In most western countries... moreHere in Europe you cannot buy a carrier-locked phone at a lower price. We don't have carrier locks any more, and the phone prices went through the roof and no longer offer any discounts. At least in my part of Europe, not sure about 100% of every country.

Sure, we have "contracts". Like "pay twice as much in two years" and other blatant fraud stuff.

But In most western countries I believe 90% phones cost above 500$ and tied with a carrier are usually sold that way. And all the phones that are sold tied with carrier in USA 90+% are either iPhone or Samsung.
So, I just didn't think you will stand you theory based on that.

                We need a Samsung with the GN2 F1.7, the 50mp 1.0um F2.0 for both 3x and Ultrawide, and 12mp 1.8um for the 5x F3.0

You think 7 million people spent $1,000+ upfront on a foldable? Of course not. Like most people they pay monthly along with a plan from a carrier. That's why I began my comment writing "Until cell phone providers start carrying other Foldables on their network . . ."

BTW, you don't have to tell me how much phones Samsung sold. I was one of the 500,000 in 2019, I'm one of the current 7 million you spoke of and I'll be one of the 14 million they are prepping for this summer.

After using the z fold 2 for a year and half, a display as narrow as the z fold 2 and 3 display compromises usability of the device when folded, it's been a pain since the first week I've got it. Samsung have a tight grip on the western foldable market, and that control has made them complement and like stated above can move at thier own pace which is unfortunate. Im looking to get vivo x fold, that seems superior in almost every way(except software ofc)

Sales figure of Z 3 series alone is close to 7 million.
So, you might rethink before giving that statement.

Convenient way to blindly dismiss any criticism. Samsung has disproportionately more paid endorsers. I don't see "critics" having something to say against normal aspect ratios like bar phones.

"it is perfect for using the phone for calls when folded"
But the outer screen isn't just for calls. You wouldn't even need any outer screen whatsoever if it were there just for calls.

"Truth of the matter is, the fold 3 is still miles ahead of the competetion specially in terms of usability and protection."
Truth is not the right word to use when expressing your subjective opinion. There are many more aspects to judge usability and protection. Abnormally narrow outer screen doesn't help usability and the sharp crease and the gap when folded don't help protection. 8 months are a short period. Most people expect to use their phones more than 8 months. Nearly all the Samsung folds with dead screens were flawless too... until they died, and owners often admit that they had been praising and recommending their Samsung folding phones... until it happened. IP ratings do not guarantee the product will not actually get liquid damage. IP ratings do not mean Samsung will provide warranty repair if the product get liquid damage.
The truth that actually exists is, Samsung fold users who report their failing screens get ridiculed and told that it's a given that folding screens will fail even on the official Samsung community.

Innovation will always have critics but at the end of the day, Samsung is THE pioneer in this tech. Weird looking, or not, who cares.

I certainly hope they fix the internal screen protector issue. Or at least stand behind the warranty, one repair at an authorized repair center voids warranty. Samsung doesn’t stand behind their product, they easily blame consumers for using the phone incorrectly.
