No one makes ca... moreBMW and many other companies started making cars in China because of protectionism, enabled only by a sufficiently vast domestic market...not unlike why most smartphones sold in India are made in India, which would otherwise have been quite unnecessary judging by the quality of Indian-made military equipment.

As for taxes on imports into the EU, I'm not sure how much is being paid or whether they have to pay.

They sure as hell aren't doing all of them because that would be financial suicide from logistic perspective. Not only cars are heavy and take up lots of space, they are expensive to move around as a result and then you're also a subject of import taxes that you don't have if you manufacture within EU.

European goods are higher quality but even BMW is starting to manufacture their cars in China.

So really, there's really nothing in your anti-China rant.

If Apple products-parts are going to be mostly produced in America, sales rates drop dramatically and the company will go bankrupt or gets very serious damage in a short time. No one can pay 3x prices for apple. Imo they already wants too much same style not innovative products.

I wonder what this change may actually mean in terms of performance?

If I had to guess, I'd say it may effect battery consumption and / or thermals.
