That is stupid. They are free to ask any price in Australia. If you do not like do not buy or if you like then immigrate to USA or at least make your own phones better than iPhones and stop whining that Americans are racist and discriminate you.

Australians are always ripped off by large corporations in the pricing of their products. Frankly Apple is starting to loose market share in Australia, and I for one will upgrade to the Z10 Blackberry. Sure it is another piece of expensive hardware, but I will buy in Indonesia not Australia and get the best all round mobile available today. Not interested in lagging and over rated droids.

Why can't do uk really expensive and we are the no ine paying tax than anyone else should government stop this high taxes on phone.

Aussie is One of the few countries which has seen a rise in the currency value at a very standard pace even during the recession times and global inflations.
one may argue that there is no complusion / force to buy a gadget,but inappropriate pricing of a product questions the credibility of the economy and value of the currency unit. it has nothing to do with you being rich or poor financially.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2013Except the subject isn't about some countries, it's about A... morebut the people he is mentioning may include some from other countries complaining about the price of the devices here on this forum. that is still $40 difference for something that is not a necessity. just yesterday, here in the philippines, in the public jeepney we are riding, there was a commotion. later we found out that a hobo was inside, he paid the fare, but no one wants to sit beside him, so the driver wants him out. as soon as my wife heard the reason of the commotion, she told the driver, "that's just P10 ($.25) fare, it won't make you rich". and we paid for the slot so the jeep can move on. imagine $40, that's P2000 here. and these products mentioned are sold here for $40 more. i guess that's why some people here from india and other countries have the same sentiments. even if you are from a rich country, doesn't make you rich. I have a friend whose cousins from australia come here in manila and ask me to take them to Greenhills, a known place for very cheap electronic gadgets. being frugal and fighting for the right to buy cheap ain't bad. it's for us consumers anyways.

That's like saying all those people paying high prices for BMWs are sending the price up for the moderate earners. There are other options. BTW prices rise because of inflation and other economic factors, not because a company decide to charge a higher price point.

The Parliamentary inquiry mostly relates to purchases via download, where there is no physical product involved. On Adobe's US site, a full copy of Photoshop CS5 Extended costs $US699, whereas the same software costs $1519 on its Australian site.

Well, living all together as a nation means you are living socially and that calls for a government which serves socially by protecting its peeople. So there is nothing wrong with Aus government. In fact I think every country should control such companies.Otherwise they will drain peoples blood.
