While there are dedicated followers for Linux as a primary desktop OS (mainly because of ChromeOS), there's still a long way for it to be on par with Windows.

All I did to it was upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB and change the 2.5" SATA hard disk from HDD to SSD, and that's about it.

I have a Windows mini PC with Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU, and it's still a solid CPU for my everyday use, not least because I have 32GB of RAM on board. Unless you are using something like 9th gen or older Intel laptop CPU, there's no need to upgrade your existing PC.

Prediction companies like canalys, IDC, Gartner are designed to encourage PC manufacturing so that PC manufacturers take on more loans. They do this as they are encouraged by banks to predict a positive story always.

This doesn't make sense. I am 100% sure that these people, *checks notes*, didn't buy a smartphone.

                                Crap analysis.

This is called the market normalizing. The surge due to pandemic is an outlier. Companies cannot expect that surge to be constant. People who needed new computers for WFH have bought theirs. The shipment is normalizing to what a normal trend would be. It's still increasing, as there are companies replacing their fleet of PCs and laptops. Majority of PC shipments are enterprise contracts,. These numbers offer little insights to consumer behaviors.

But for cpu or gpu (mid range or higher) they will last at least 5 years before it feels slow, and needs about 8-10 years to be unusable

Worrying this last part! someone who bought or built a gaming pc or just for work, has a pc for 5 years or more if they know how to take care of it! It's not like you buy a PC for 2,000 dollars or more and in 6 months you have to change... But of course, the manufacturers would love that

Really? A PC/notebook is not a phone to upgrade every year or two. Maybe 5-7 years, although I have a 10 old Acer which is still running fine. I don't know anyone who would upgrade their PC every two or three years.
