I always believed that rollables are the future of phones and foldables are a stop-gap or seat warmers until rollables roll in.

About the Wing, it's basically LG's idea of giving manual gimbal control. Sure that swivel screen is cool, but no one ever thought of giving a manual control for gimbal video, not even Vivo despite they are the first to put gimbal stabilization on smartphones with the X50 Pro.

This rollable concept phone made all current phones which includes foldables, Duos, and LG Wing look old and boring.
If this Motorola Rizr is ever released, it's the most exciting smartphone release since the original iPhone. Forget the One M7, Fold, Flip, Razr, or Duo. Forget the Xperia Play, Nokia N9, or Yotaphone. Forget all that. This Rizr looks like a smartphone 10 years into the future. Boring slabs and foldables look ancient by comparison looking like a rotary phone or one of those bag phones in your car during the mid-90s when Verizon was still called AirTouch.

Great to see LG's rollable screen idea lives on. LG knows that foldable screen is not the future. Times like this makes me wish that LG will come back to the smartphone market. They can make truly compelling products.

I always liked those funky names from the sony Ericsson era.arc,play,neo,Walkman, ray,satio,vaio...
The phone's strong point was very subliminally implemented in to the model naming.

I find this much more interesting than any foldable we’ve had so far, for a simple reason: people who want smaller phones could finally get smaller phones, while at the same time people who want bigger phones could just enlarge the screen at the press of a button. No more picking phone sizes or being forced into huge phones, everybody wins!

We already had a smartphone with a rolling/pop-up mechanism with the Find X (2018). I thought that had the coolest pop-up mechanism than the ones Samsung, LG, and Asus did.
The problem with phones like the Find X, Galaxy A80, OnePlus 7T Pro, Asus Zenfone 8 Flip, and LG Wing with their pop-up cameras is they're still too frickin' large! I don't enjoy putting bricks into my shallow pockets. I didn't when I used the LG V20 with removable battery as my daily driver for 2 years. I never got used to that size.
This Motorola Rizr looks pocketable enough. I wish Sony would come up with the same form factor since their phones are so tall but narrow. Maybe the moving mechanism will eventually break and stop expanding. But at least it's something different than all the stale designs we've seen which basically looks the same as the previous model. The S23 Ultra gets all this praise with such a boring design.

Heck..if i could i would buy just to keep the form factor(before rolled). Tall display is no for me as it's useless..

I can imagine if a phone like this will ever reach the mass market, it will cost $2000 or more considering Motorola charged $1500 for their first two foldable RAZRs with only midrange specs.
No way I would spend that much only to be a beta tester for unproven tech. You usually wait until Gen 2 through to 5 when a company starts polishing their product and prices plummet. The first gen Galaxy Z Fold and Razr 2019 were bad products that only improved over time.
iPhone 2G -> 4, 4S, 5, 5S (big leap)
Z Fold -> Z Fold 2, 3, 4 (considerable improvements)
Z Flip -> Z Flip 3, 4 (considerable improvements)
Pixel 1 -> Pixel 2, 3, 4 (considerable improvements)
Razr 2019 -> Razr 5G (improved)
That first gen of a new product is the one you pay the most and deal with the most issues. My favorite phones usually has the number 2, 3, 4, 5,or 7 next to it.

Motorola had a variety of phones series back then i.e razr, rizr, slvr, defy, rokr, krzr, driod, backflip milestone etc
Some of my friends had these moto phones and man that were a fashion statement back then

I actually think this is a more interesting rollable than the Oppo concept because of its small size. The back panel also works as a cover display like for the Flips and Razrs. There will obviously be durability concerns. The part that rolls up looks very flimsy as many pointed out. But I think this concept already made foldables look very boring and outdated. Rollables can remove a crease.
If this ever comes to the mass market, it will be my next phone. But it's just a concept. I remember seeing foldable and rollable screens back in CES 2011. We didn't get the curved displays about a year after the Samsung's YOUM announcement on early 2014. Then foldables by 2019. We could be waiting for a while for this next generation RIZR. Rollables can be the new gen for sliders like the OG RIZR, Z9, LG Chocolate, Nokia N95, etc.
I currently still use a Razr 5G next to a Flip 3, iPhone SE 2022, iPhone X, and Pixel 3. But my sim is inside that Razr because I prefer using it as a phone the most even if I prefer my Flip 3 more as an overall device. Motorola and Nokia have the best reception and call quality. Looks like my next phone will continue to be a stylish and pocketable Motorola.

But but why? How much bipolar you must be that you need both small and big display at the same time? Get 2 phones, hell get a 2 inch feature phone if you need "tiny". But no... They will release a phone that will get destroyed with slight bump, let alone a drop. Not to mention rolling mechanism possible damaging effects on display or failure of motor.
