DXOmark hasn't been a credible source in years. iPhones often top the charts for cameras, despite consistently underperforming in the camera department, just because videos are ahead. Their scores haven't made sense in quite a while.

The phone display reviewers even shows more test results, info and samples. Compared to dpreviews(rip) I don't even consider dxo a camera review site. Even gsm shows much more research area still their web samples are not fully refine decoded.

I dont remember hearing about that problem with panasonic's smartphone from almost a decade ago &.it had a 1 inch camera sensor.

Looks like Oppo has WiFi 7 on board interesting and 100w charger vs 66w on honor the price is lower on Oppo 850 euro and honor over 1000 yikes

Looks like it performs better than say the Samsung S23 ultra and the iphone 14 pro max.

Weak sales is more about brand recognition. People buy samsung and iphone due to marketing, more than anything else.
Just look at TVs now. Long time marketing kings have been Samsung and LG. Now TCL and HiSense are on the move and will up their brand recognition. Not unlikely that TCL and HiSense will be the TV kings in a few years. They most certainly have the hardware for it.

- erm.. no, not this time. So what happend there? We had an article about it here on GSM arena. Anyone remembers?
Xiaomi decided not to pay for DxOMark camera review last year but you may ask your self why? Why did they tried to skip it when they did in fact payed up for that same review for several years by now?
Because Xiaomi knew their camera score would be lower then their last generation of Ultra phone. And then? What happend next? We still got the camera score for Xiaomi 12S Ultra because DxOMark bought the device by them self directly from Xiaomi, but it was a worse score then the model from year earlier the 11 Ultra.
But what does it means?
It means every brand have to pay if they want a review on DxOMark. But brands which do pay to DxOMark are usually a marketing ploy to boost sales. How do we know it? Because they often publish a score without the phone being released in the first place or they just announced it. Coincidence? Not a chance.
Is DxOMark payed to give better camera scores?
Yes, if your beloved brand is nowhere near top spots.
Guys... nothing is simply black and white.
That site is giving us a largely irrelevant scores about phone's camera because it all depends on our personal taste and theirs too. Sure they're "experts" but they also have their own preferences and they're deciding upon that which is better. So how can that be objective? It can't.
DxOMark is not meant for just one look at the score to find out which camera has the best performance, but people took it as granted. Why? Because people like to oversimplicite everything especially things they don't know well.
Just one number labeled as a final score can't tell you everthying you need to know.
It's the same thing with any benchmark. For example, AnTuTu score is not meaningless but it also won't provide you a detailed results in any way. You should use as many benchmarks and different testings as you can to fully see and understand the capabilities of your device.

even some their commentaries do not coincide with their scoring...
most people are just drawn to single number to represent its excellence...
when those phones on higher rank just differs on white balance, sharpening, saturation, contrast... which falls into different preferences...
...
with that being said, image quality of oppo is still excellent, based on samples i have seen online...
their camera app is also quite intuitive and well rounded...
but i still prefer the color science of vivo, even though they are on the same company (meanwhile, huawei and honor, even after the "split" has too similar color science to really convince that they are different companies, but i digress)
yes, i prefer vivo over oppo... but, ultimately, xperias which is nowhere on dxo...

They arent better phones, they don't cost more because they cost more to manufacture, they just have more money to spend vs everyone but apple and because they have a more recongised brand they can sell it higher prices, that's it.
Samsung makes a loss on its flagship series each year and produce less units, each year. They push the s23u and the fold4 harder than their other devices, i wonder why? 🤔🤔🤔
Apple is another story for another day.
