Samsung and other top brands manufacture their phones in china but they have R&D and the phones are designed by them and manufactured by their own employees strictly under their control. In the case of micromax and other cheap brands they do not design phones nor manufacture phones.They just buy phones from chinese manufacturers and sell with their software and name labeled on it.

Al, 09 Apr 2013I beleive buying an expensive phone makes the phone smarter... moreWhat we look in a smart phone is rich features. Micromax HD just have good display and power.it s good for gaming and watching videos. But other features are low compared to top brands, like no compass, no stand alone gps, no glonass, no advanced controls for music player/ video player, poor network/ Internet performance. While companies like samsung has compass, stand alone gps , even in its low end androids like galaxy Y series priced INR 6000/- (USD 100).

AnonD-80150, 08 Apr 2013Why are Indians feeling proud of a company who imports chin... morefyki , samsung products are also chinese made, they dont built dose phones is india, and nokia india has employed more people then sammy, overall india.... It has more number of service centres, showrooms etc. Dont say sammy,s factory is in india, nokia,s profit margin are very less as compared to what samsung earns, u wont see a sammy phone working after 1 year properly but vid nokia u will still use the phone for atleast 2-3 years.... I myself had nokia n8 and still dere vid me and its over 2.5 years, bought a galaxy s3 and resold it, cause t had heating problems, and scratchy body which will never b useful for a ruff and tuff person like me......

I beleive buying an expensive phone makes the phone smarter than you... How much more resolution can one give. micromax is just the appropriate stuff at the best price possible and now 3D is killer stuff im glad its buying and reselling it to us if its true. Atleast i dont have to spend a fortune for electronics which eventually feels junk later on. accept it guys ur not buying gold..

Adithetentaliser is correct just imagine a no one has just entered the market and is giving competition to likes of samsung and apple - no matter what, the business strategy is just awesome and all i need is a good phone at a cheap rate thats all that matters

micro-max is Indian owned brand and they also offering Chinese made cellphones.

Yup, exact the similar phone is also ready to launch soon in Pakistan, it'll be Qmobile Noir A16, Qmobile is chineese company, and micromax and qmobile releases similar phones same time in both countries, micromax is chinese company as well, They're just different by name that's it, correct it gsmarena.

Why are Indians feeling proud of a company who imports china phones and sells as its own? Lol. Id rather feel proud of samsung who actually creates jobs in India with its factory in Noida

There's no competition between Samsung and Micromax as Samsung is a truly global player which beats Apple and the big elephant Nokia all over across the phone catagories, while poor Micromax is limited to India only which just paste its brand label on Chinese handsets, and you know I think Samsung gonna kill to Micromax within India, you never know what's going on this smartphone giant's mind, it can afford anything
