As long as Samsung keep these devices rom unfriendly with their camera modules, never buying.

Galaxy S is boring line of products for the masses.
They can afford to be the same boring stuff every year, no one cares.
Galaxy Z on the other hand ? They're the last remnants of innovation in the entire portfolio of Samsung Mobile.
They are supposed to be exciting and innovative EVERY YEAR. Z fold 5 is the same as Z Fold 4 which was already the same as Z Fold 3. This is depressing for an "innovation leading" line of product, and the only culprit here is the lack of competition. Why should Samsung bother to dress if they're the only one going to the party ?
Hopefully Pixel Fold and the likes can change that, and we might see a new design in the Z Fold next year.

Make them downside-free and it will sell on it's own regardless of competition

They want to double the sales by 2025. That's what the event is for. It's not just about the updates or lack of.

Also, the Z4 Fold and Flip still have durability issues. It's a small percentage compared to sales, but the Z5's new hinge could address those remaining issues. That won't be enough for me to upgrade this year, but it will be for new users. Ultimately, that is what Samsung wants. New customers.

Well if there is this little of improvements/changes they might just as well skip the launch event. (For the Fold, Flip 5 seems to be doing just fine)

PorkHotdog, 16 May 2023As long as there's crease it's a no-buy for meUm, it's a plastic screen that folds in half. If you're waiting for no crease you'll never own a foldable.

Nothing to do with their semiconductor business. They've been lazily dominant in an uncompetitive/suppressed market and have suddenly woken up to real competition. This is about the Pixel Fold/ iPhone 15. Goes to show how long ago the Fold 5 was developed.

mawlki, 16 May 2023To crease, or not to crease, that is the question.Yes! If it's as creaseless as the Flip N2 then finally it will be an attractive buy.

Samsung has become almost exactly like Apple. They make phones that dont have 1000watt charging or 1inch sensors (though they have a 200MP sensor) or something equally headline grabbing. But their overall refinement, user experience and after sales is excellent. And Samsung if you're going to release Exynos, please get more talent from around rhe world. And lest blind independent testers test them, we'll before release.

Also, ever improving cameras isn't a bad idea 😉

                                      Fold 4S. So minor upgrades.

As long as there's crease it's a no-buy for me
