1) fire os is fine. Just an android skin. I installed google apps
2) the ads is only on the lock screen not a big deal. The ads i get are mostly moba games and dramas and books. The artwork is great. It's like a surprise wallpaper.
3) anything cheaper are chinese botnet. No thanks.

I admit, looking at wifi6, Bluetooth 5.3 etc
It looks decent.
But, compare to ipad or other android tablet
1. FireOS is bad
2. There are ads
3. There are cheaper but better alternatives
4. The image that fire tablet should budget can't be removed from my head.
So, if it is 220, 128 gb plus the stylus and casing at least..

The people that are trashing this have probably not checked the specs of the SoC. It's 2x A78 and 6x A55. Performance should be decent. The 4GB RAM is a bigger concern. When I saw the leaks of this with the bundle going for $240 or something and removing ads for $15 I thought this would be a steal, but it seems like you have to come out of pocket almost $350 for the bundle making it quite a bit less attractive. Especially when you consider it will run Fire OS. I haven't used Amazon's Fire OS in a few years, but I last remember it being overly customized to a detriment. For reference, the Realme Pad Mini has 2x A75 and A55 and the performance isn't even the worst aspect. It's the screen.

Battery life is trash, they have severe thermal throttling, and they're also difficult to repair. the only ways they succeed is with build quality, display, cameras, and keyboard.

Mills, 24 May 2023Good chipsets use A78 and A55, yet no one is complaining ab... moreMid range/lower end chipsets now use them which even the SD 888 in my find x5 is basically mid range in cpu performance now. Tensor SoCs use them and are *REAL WORLD* way off the mark in performance, about on par with the 888 in real life (the pixel 6 pro which i owned, had to run its x1 core constantly to get its performance "up to" a SD 888 which in real world, never got past a SD865, purely because the a76 cores didnt cut it).
A78 wont be as efficent as say the a-710 which can clock lower to achieve the same performance. With armv9 the workloads should be way more efficient too and better for a.i workloads which, lets be honest, is what a phone mostly is now.

Anonymous, 24 May 2023if the price is halved, it would be a decent product.I currently have the Fire 10 and grabbed it during Prime Day for $69, and an okay keyboard card for $49. So this ended up being better than a cheap Chrome book, supports MS Office apps, and paired with a Bluetooth, (non-dongle), mouse, has been great for remote work. I agree the price seems a bit high at first blush, but it's the same as a night out at today's prices.
That said, I have a feeling this will probably have a limited supply with a steep drop, just before, or on prime day. Regardless, I wanted the larger screen and fully integrated keyboard on launch day, so I traded in an old Echo Dot we no longer need for a $5, 20% off, dropping the tablet price to $178.99. or $267.99 with the keyboard case.
To get the discount, you need to order the tablet and case separately. Both will probably arrive at your home on or just before 6/14/2023.
