Its a shell to hide real design and so that people doesn't start peaking on your device! I got one to use as a developer as i m working on an app for a telecom operator!

It sure looks like a case, judging by the lower right cornor, where there is a connector, that is sunk in deep, or a mic pin hole.
But on the other hand, this suggest, that the bezel beneath the screen will be minimal, even with final design.
Personaly I don't know what Samsung really can do about their design, only small changes... they already updated the pattern in the plastic.
But I don't think Samsung will go all metal, with the drawback that it actually brings.
And sharp edges is not samsung typical design language.
What Nokia did was interesting, but it has way to much wasted space in the design.
And you cant really complain about the front of a samsung, its mostly gorgeous screen on their top models.
And the back is as flat as can be... so pretty much all they can do is come up with new patterns for the plastic and minmal changes to the shape.
If they dont do something with the back, by putting leds in the body and see through parts, so that the back can indicate various things. Or do a lightshow.
Well they could have parts of the back with metal infused in the plastic, thus retaining the shock absobing flexibility and without hurting reception for the radios or other sensors. But it would probably not make the back feel premium.
They could also include touch on the back cover sruface, but then that would probably be the end to user access to the battery, and the design would probably be made so that the touch area looks just like ordinary plastic and the design would be pretty much in the line with todays design.
Well I hope that samsung brings something fresh, but it's hard to see what that would be. At the best they could just join the some of the others, nothing would really be new, just new to samsung. And journalist would still complain about it beeing a booring design, that brings nothing new to the table.
After all, scaled back, clean design, can only be made with so few real variations.

S2 design is good note design is better cause it didn't have that speaker bump

for me the pebble shape is just right. so if you dont want sammy's design don't buy it. simple as that.

if it feels premium like the other vendors, I will switch to samseng
