Are you serious? Pixel 8 curved display? And 8 pro Flat display? Was looking for 8. This will force me to skip it and go for pixel 7. Bad Google this will hurt sales big time.

Buy Motorola or any other chinese brand for ... moreit’s not even about charging, but in stupid marketing, Google does everything so that people look towards the PRO pixel, the Sony module is pro, the flat screen that doesn’t infuriate is also about, wangyu that 8 pro will cost 800+ without taxes, the one that I don’t think from the start of sales I will take it, I will look in the direction of nasing 2, asus zenfone, and pixel 8, I still hope for a flat screen 😒

I still hope that previous rumor about P8P to have a 6.5-inch screen is true.

Some of the best decisions getting rid of the curved display gimmick seen on P7 Pro, thanks Google.

mkz2on7, 20 Jun 2023I think they probably have no other choice. They broke up w... moreTo be honest, I am jealous of the situations in the market in Mainland China. The unlocked phones were dominant, and there are lots of sub-6 frequencies available, making the barriers from carriers and mmwave hardware absent. The only way for a phone to get purchased is to compete with others on hardware, software, and support, instead of some nonsense stuff from carriers, mmwave, and monopoly.

Diagon X, 19 Jun 2023Even the tensor, while being weaker than the 8gen2 and a16,... moreI think they probably have no other choice. They broke up with Qualcomm in 2020 (as they opt for a 765 instead of an 865), and it's impossible to get a semi-customizable solution from Hisilicon since they provide chips exclusively for Huawei and they could no longer to let fabs outside Mainland China to fab their chips.
Now what's left is Mediatek and Samsung. Mediatek probably doesn't have such a solution, and it seems their baseband back in 2020 doesn't support mmwave, which is mandatory if they want Verizon to sell their phones. Samsung happened to have a baseband with mmwave support, namely the Exynos 5123.
Also, according to the recent failures from Zeku by OPPO, their team for making smartphone SoCs, this thing is extremely hard to design from ground up.
So if the above assumptions are all correct, Samsung is the only choice, and as a side effect, the Tensors need to be fabbed on Samsung foundries and bear the downsides.
