Google is probably working on a keyboard and stylus for the Pixel Tablet

These were weirdly missing in action during the unveiling event last month.

Keyboard and stylus for a Pixel tablet? Bruh! Why not just buy a tab S8 with stylus and keyboard? Samsung has mastered stylus functionality with features even Apple's overpriced Apple pencil can't even begin to compare. Couple it with OneUI's excellent desktop mode (Samsung DEX), and at least 4 years of major android software updates, all of which Google's Pixel tablet cannot even begin to match as it will have to play catch up for at least 5 years more before it can even come close.

      > "probably"

Yes, I'm probably going to devour a pizza probably this evening

Maybe they should be working on their existing failings first. Their Nest Hub Max range have stopped working properly after an update 2 months ago and haven’t fixed it. They ignore the 1000s of daily complaints. They have their staff pretend they know nothing about it. Give you the run around. All they ever say is “we are working on it”.

GSMarena……please pick up this story. Maybe with a little media pressure, they might actually start to care about the people who have already given them their money and not just think about the money they’re yet to make.

I don't have a problem with this, but IMO I would rather see a smaller tablet from them.

If they are going to make a keyboard, it'll need to have passthrough charging for the tablet, AND have strong enough magnets to keep it and the tablet docked on the stand while charging, OR they'll have to use a Bluetooth connection, which will obviously be subpar. So I have some doubts about how viable this will be. The best scenario might be if they offer SKUs that pair a keyboard instead of the base at the same price, but you can buy either separately after the fact.

The stylus is a bit more interesting, because if I recall from all of the previews, Google stated that they WEREN'T going to sell a stylus when the tablet was USI 2.0 compatible. Kind of odd that they're backtracking on that now, but it makes sense given how big of a selling point it is for Samsung and Apple. (Side note, Samsung gives their stylus away for free with the S series tablets, while Apple charges $139 for the newest Apple Pencil, and is probably making their third trillion doing so. How do you guys think Google would price these devices compared to the competition?)

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2023Surface is the best tablet.Apart from the battery life, I agree. Windows is actually the best OS for a big screen like tablet, because all (when I said all it means 100%) of the apps are optimized for a bigger screen. Too bad this only applies to the x86 version, not the ARM version. I really hope soon we can run x86 apps on ARM Windows.

There's always something like this with google. Sales won't meet expectations and it'll get forgotten about, receiving nothing more than basic updates.

                        Surface is the best tablet.

Even though Google fixate the Pixel Tablet as a smart home companion, a detachable keyboard and stylus support should also be available from day one. It can easily make this tablet a worthy alternative to the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and OnePlus Pad.

if these see the light of day, the iPad will seriously have competition in the pseudo laptop market. I fully believe it.
