They should have let users do that from the start, nothing makes sense in Facebook-land.

What is a Twitter competitor doing with one's health data?
Why are you asking for it?
Threads is bot a health app plus it shouldn't be automatic.

I can take a Twitter competitor from Snapchat, Apple even, but Zuckerberg... No way!!! I'd rather abandon twitter than give that man Zuck more of my clicks.

.Government used to censor on twitter but after Elon Musk's takeover, government cannot do that.

So governement is creating alternative to that and the best thing they can do is to go with zuck who is known for ( well everybody knows what he does)

Many years ago people were more happy without these government created social networks!

Aoi Akane, 08 Jul 2023Since I can't reply all of the comments that replied t... moreGovernments want user data to know people's preferences, ways of thinking, behavioral patterns, likes, dislikes etc so that the same can be used to predict their behavior, to exploit their insecurities, to make them fight against each other... basically to control their everyday existence.
Most companies hand over the data willingly, others are forced to.

Plus, governments also force social media to sensor info that they do not want to be discussed.
Long story short.. They can not do that with Twitter.

Recently, governments and corporates had to face serious setbacks because people used Twitter to air their just grievances, build social movements and public opinion around violation of their basic human rights. Since all ploys failed to bend Twitter their way, government wants to create its own 'personal Twitter' amenable to its commands so that everything stays 'as usual'.

But why only now? It's been a long time since Meta launched their Facebook and Instagram apps which are also aggressive in terms of data collecting, but why are people complaining only when this Threads app get released?

"Deleting". Once in Zuck's servers, always in Zuck's servers. What's worse is that the tools to built such platforms in a decentralized manner using a token to be getting them pain (similar to how crypto projects do) exists and for knce it woukd be for a legit reason (instead of stupid speculation that crypto bros do).

But instead of using that tech for good, we use it for evil (speculation) and the things for which we could have used it for, instead, we still built them in the evil centralized model (that Zuck and co follow).

We have the tools to build a better world. We merely opt to missed them for evil and at the same time allows the previous evil to perpetuate. Humanity in a nutshell!
