Samsung's XR headset reportedly delayed up to six months due to Apple Vision Pro

09 July 2023
It was expected to launch in February 2024.

I know eMagin showcased a 4k micro-oled display with a resolution of 3600x4000px with 120hz refresh rate and 4000ppi with an exceptional brightness of 1000 nits in power saver mode back in May 2022 and hinted about a partner which was later revealed to be Samsung after they were acquired and merged with Samsung displays and they then said that mass production can begin in no less than 18 months (that's exactly 2024)
For comparison Apple's display has a resolution of 3000x3800 with 90hz refresh rate and 3400ppi and definitely not the same brightness
if Samsung will be aiming at that display then clearly that went quite ahead of schedule as it was assumed to be included in the second generation of their headsets and that explains the second delay

"Samsung's XR headset reportedly delayed up to six months due to Apple Vision Pro"

Second and most obvious (except to you) I alone am not briefed, not a president, statement, announcements, whatever format WE all received it at the same time

If only your criticism were limited to that alone it is nonsensical garbage, try rereading it and see if your consumerism views makes any sense

I doubt you can formulate an opinion on the article, hence the disjointed paragraph you posted.

@ everybody else I won't be making $4 Trillion anytime soon, hence "we".
I do expect that the Pro Vision product will get them there.

So far my purchase in Apples products I estimate as NIL, whatever currency you use.

Based on the articles I read mainly from this site I put forward the previous post.

It is an opinion, until the actual events happen, just an opinion based on what I know now.

I also don't understand how many people here are "blind" of the fact that Samsung has been invested in VR since Gear VR launch in 2015. They've stopped many years later but we know that there's no point that "Samsung follows Apple's step by making a new kind of device that they never made before."

[deleted post]if it happens then they'll delete all articles and device models except samsung devices and articles.

You can already find articles about them making an affodable version of it, which would completely make sense and would prove further that they do see AR as the future

So many stupid comments saying Samsung would copy Apple. Apple did not bring even a really new aspect to the table (besides the dumbest idea of using fingers instead of a controller). Samsung had been working on such headsets since ever, I myself had even one years ago. They don’t need any idea from Apple.
What is probably going to happen is this: Apple did just spec bragging during the keynote, simply because content-wise they hadn't anything new. As Samsung has not released their new headsets yet, and even had not started producing them either, they probably are going to change the hardware specs to eliminate this marketing BS from Apple. Pretty sure they will opt for a higher resolution, lighter materials, and something like that. But they are not going to change their OS or concept. So please, just stop posting such childish comments.

Anton., 09 Jul 2023Sell a million of that expensive nonsense? then the world ... moreThat is true even now. One of the reason why I don't read and watch news. Lies and scandals and everything negative.

[deleted post]Man I believe you know why your comment got deleted last time on an article related to Samsung's device.

You are literally taking Apple to be alpha and omega whereas this same Apple have fears knowing (even when their sales are doing well) they have tough competition from androids (Samsung S-line series to be frank)

The upcoming Apple 15 line-up will be increasing their battery capacities base on the simple fact that they got scared of the s23 overtaking them and the ultra model closing the competition,if Apple are confident of their upcoming chipset then why increasing battery capacities

I overheard Apple planning on a Flip smart phone launch but still waiting for years of perfection, basically they know there are competitions ahead (androids on the edge, from Samsung and Oppo to be frank )and so they need a good start else if they mess up they know what it means just like every other Brand.

To cut this short, I will agree with you that Apple are good, they are doing well, but they have fears even more than you trying to be *a do or die fan* which won't pay.

Apppt::: *Try be calming down* :)

If I understand the initial article correctly it does seem to only integrate with Apple apps only, or in the main

Also " The most expensive components are causing the biggest headaches – the two micro-OLED displays, which are made by Sony and TSMC, are suffering from low yields."

I have multiple problem with that statement
First I don't think Apple are capable or willing to make what Apple call affordable
Reason you know the affordable version is to be released, sales of original fall off immediately.

Or from Apples playbook affordable has less specs, or Apple abandons it stating it cannot do it and maintain user experience.

By appointment only, do you really expect demand desire will lessen when you restrict those wanting to purchase it now.

We haven't been provided with a reason why there is a delay. In addition to supply issues the Pro Vision is heavy, the linked article states 30 minutes if you are small becomes problematic, adding a strap does not lessen the weight only secures it.

Samsung have taken a second look at everything, Apple only constraint is the bottle neck in supply.

                                4 Trillion here we come

You need Mac/Macbook to work and iPhone to call although all of them have the same CPU and could easily replace each other. Let's be honest here, both companies have likely been working on their own respective XR headsets for years now.

People were expecting an AR headset from Apple since 2017, so they likely started work around then.
Samsung did make a few mixed reality headsets a few years back. The HMD Odyssey headset shown in the one image in this article is from 2018, they ain't no stranger to this kind of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if work started on a new headset after the HMD was released.

It's pretty likely that both of them were making XR headsets separately at the same time. This kind of thing CAN happen.
