xikilock , 24 Jul 2023I wonder what one would use 24gb Ram for 🤔I agree. I think it's just tech gimmick.

Unless you want to run virtualization --which is unlikely on a mobile device, 8 GB ram is more than enough for mobile computing.

Its a disappointment that every flagship phone come with limited storage , i dont understand why dont they just provide expandable storage And its not about speed. That reason is absourd .

"Note that the 8S Pro+ model isn’t coming, so there is no 24GB RAM option (you could add 8GB of virtual RAM, though, for 16+8=24GB total)."

Wait so why isn't it being released, is it just being postponed? There should be a 24GB LPDDR5X RAM w/1TB storage model as per the product sheet: https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/23/07/red-magic-8s-pro-announcement/inline2/-1200/gsmarena_006.jpg

It's a shame they went with a macro lens over a telephoto. This would be a great OnePlus 7 pro replacement otherwise.

I don't want this ultra wide camera & macro camera. Instead give 3x telephoto which will be much more useful

Just like if someone cares that much about storing as much p*rn as possible on their phone then they would just either downgrade/purchase a different phone and stop complaining, or they would by an external backup that they will carry with them into the bathroom LOL

Seems like phone manufacters successfuly GASLIGHTING their consumers about MicroSD. You're too trusting them.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2023If you were smart enough you would use USB-OTG as expandabl... moreThis is a partial solution, but it's clunky. The beauty of a MicroSD slot on a phone is that your storage is expanded with no dongle or extra weight.

Also due to greedy Google, we can only put apps on internal storage, further devaluing the use of such external storage.

dd, 20 Jul 2023It's crazy that you compared the cost of SSD to phone ... moreOh, so you think I can suddenly create my own phone? This barrier to entry is the reason why we don't have more competition.

And comparing phone storage prices to SSD prices is absolutely fair as they have comparable speed and wear. I understand due to the small size of phones we can't have multiple terabytes of storage, but I'd like the gap between 256GB and 512GB to cost $10 like an SSD instead of $50-$200. MicroSD cards are a defense against that because you purely pay for storage that you can add at any time.

There are workarounds to everything the phone has, or in this case, don't has, it's just not as convenient. People can buy the cheapest DSLR to take pics that are 10 years ahead of any phone that is out there, but it's not convenient to carry a separate camera.

Also, that phone you mentioned is not available worldwide and is barely a midranger from last year, so that's not a choice, only the Rog phone 7 is available with a jack in my country and in the price range I want but even that has no SD slot and is a gaming phone, so that's NOT A CHOICE, ITS THE ONLY OPTION.
Your idea that if you're not buying this single phone from last year with lower specs, you must not like sd cards/jack is nonsense, I value these features but not to the point where I would compromise on everything else like screen quality, battery life, performance, camera, software experience and looks.

Also, I never complained that I personally want those features otherwise I won't buy a phone, I'm replying to the guy who says these features are removed because nobody uses them, which is not the case. Those got removed so that brands could sell their higher storage variant for a higher price and also to sell their wireless earbuds.

                              - There are still phones with headphone jack being produced
                              - Same with microSD
                              - And removable battery
                              - You even have a 2022 phone with all of the three above combined (Galaxy Xcover6 Pro)

If you cared about all of those three features you would buy that phone, simple as.

And EVEN THEN, you can still buy a phone with the lack of these and use the many workarounds (such as Type-C jack adapter for headphones, thumbdrive external harddrive or cloud for additional storage, etc)

Rather than complain about the rest of phones which don't have those features, which clearly are not catered towards you.

blue, 19 Jul 2023I really don't care what is present in low price categ... moreI really don't care what is present in low price category phones. The topic was that all phones above $800 must have card. Reality shows that they don't have to have it at all, because customers don't need it. Can you at least deal with reality or are you going to find another nonsense?
I spend a lot of time among people. Somehow I don't see anyone wearing wired earphones in the public, but TWS everywhere. How's that possible?

So you don't care and spend a lot of time amongst people...lol...big deal. And why would people not want a feature that is useful, even if it's niche, are you Tim Cook or something?
Actual reality shows that since brands have removed those features entirely from almost every phone, people who even want to use those features can't, because THEY HAVE NO CHOICE but to cave in.
You may not see people using wired earphone because they can't, your argument that they don't use these features and that is why brands removed them is utter nonsense. They removed it because they want to sell the higher storage variant of the phone and their TWS headphones that no matter how expensive, will lose their battery life in 2 years and become e-waste....so more money for the brands.
Argument was from brands was that phones have no space and integrating SD cards/3.5mm jack "compromised" the IP rating, not that people have stopped using wired headphones.
                                Come back to reality.

facepalm, 19 Jul 2023I can't believe people are still complaining about sdc... moreSimple: We hate running out of storage so we like to have the ability to expand it when you need it, and we hate paying 200%-2000% more than what the storage cost the manufacturer.

Anyone trying to actively defend the loss of the MicroSD slot loves paying 15x the cost of SSD storage.

$650 in the US??? This blows everything else out of the water at this price, except arguably the Pixel for some users. Rip Nothing phone, OnePlus 11, etc.

Even the 550% storage/RAM markuped Version is still a good deal.
