Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to shatter brightness records and have huge bezels

23 August 2023
It's unclear what will sear your retinas the most: the sun-like brightness or the vintage bezels.

Why can't they put the same thickness of bezel from the S23 series?

I'm definitely for it if they for once remove that awful "hole". Been holding getting a new phone just because of that for a few years now.

UncleKeepsVisitingMe, 25 Aug 2023Good. Bring back thicker bezels. I'm sick and tired of... moreYes would love to have bezels and no camera in the screen. My s22 ultra is ok, but I hate the curved screen. Surprised I haven't broken the screen yet, have on almost all my other curved screen phones.

Good. Bring back thicker bezels. I'm sick and tired of accidental touches and uncomfortable hold with my S22U

To anyone crying about 3mm bezels, keep crying. We buy phones for utility, not to look "sexy" and "hot" for the user. Weirdos

The bezels aren't terrible, but I don't understand why they would do that. I figured it would be the other way around.

I like the return to a thicker bezel screen... more space for a protective case, that can be rugged, and prominent, I think this is a great move...

Then, I will not upgrade my S23 Ultra.

I'm a fan of modest bezels, around 3 mm. Much better for accidental touches and screen protectors while using covers. No complaints from me!

SilverSeraph, 24 Aug 2023Just stop, nobody need high screen-to-body ratio. We need ... moreYou're explaining all that to a crowd that will ask for 200% screen to body ratio for next generation of these phones. Eventually it'll be screen all over, even on the sides, and even then, they will want more and more. My friend, Android buyers are hardest to please and they spend the least. They're funny

Huge bezels? how times have changed..... 3mm is nothing and give me a bezel on a phone much easier to grip and less accidental touches

SilverSeraph, 24 Aug 2023Just stop, nobody need high screen-to-body ratio. We need ... more"..we need good comfortable smartphone.."

Sure, to me curved display phones are much more comfortable than flat display phones. But anyways, that's just my opinion.

My final question is the following. Why would you need huge bezels AND a hole punch on a phone? The way Sony does it is great, but big bezels combined with a hole punch, why just why?

SilverSeraph, 24 Aug 2023Just stop, nobody need high screen-to-body ratio. We need ... more"And that's great if this mediocre flagship user will have good choices except Xperia."

"Mediocre" user? At this point I don't know which group are you insulting, the curved screen fans or the flat screen fans? Seems like it's both.

"Just stop, nobody need high screen-to-body ratio.
We need good screen with good visibility and colours.."

First of all, that's false. But also why can't a good screen with good visibility and colours be a curved screen with a high screen-to-body ratio? Or to be fair a flat screen with high screen-to-body ratio? Why?

The S22/+, S23/+ had a perfect flat display, great visibility, high brightness and nice colours. On the other hand the S22/S23 Ultra had a perfect curved display with all the good specs to it. I could name many other examples from any other brands to each group but let's just stick with Samsung.

"..we need good comfortable smartphone that doesn't waste it's resources for mistouch prevention.
I hope Samsung finally realized it, and did a proper decision."

Samsung already got the "mistouch prevention" right and so did pretty much every other company making curved display phones, so there is no wasted resource there, nothing needs to be done anymore, they know how to do it.

Curves screens are fine for some limited edition or alternative phones for geeks and nerds, but not for mediocre user.

The thing is this way. S24U looks bad, very bad. We are not in 2019. Meanwhile iphone 15 series will come with better scren-body ration and USB-C, a slightly curve edge. I am samsung fan, but I want a futuristic design not an s10+. I like the S pen fol selfie shutter but I don't want a phone that looks worse than my TV.

Personally, 3mm bezels on a 6.8 inch screen would not bother me. I guess some people are not taking screen size into consideration when commenting or overestimating how much 3mm is.
