USB C-to-C cables for iPhone 15 and 15 Plus handled: no MFi, USB 2.0 speeds

24 August 2023
The cable is longer and thicker than current Lightning cables that come with new iPhones, but charging will probably be limited to the same speed as before.

AHE, 24 Aug 2023Basically this. Apple, iPhones specifically, control the... moreWrong. Different regions use different frequency bands. ITU Regions 1 and 3 cover most of the world and use mostly the same frequencies, while ITU Region 2 covers the Americas and uses completely different frequencies. So while it's easy to implement bands 2 and 4/66 on a ROW phone, bands like 12/13/17, 14, and 71 usually get left off because they're relatively expensive to implement. (Plus band 41 has different power levels IIRC.)

The net result of all this is that the NA market is less competitive, but there still is competition. Samsung has quite a bit of market share and I regularly see their folding phones in public. Google too has picked up a slice of the market, and LG used to be big here. Stop assuming the NA phone market is an Apple monopoly when that's just not true.

"Researcher Majin Bu reports" seriously? lol

And what does Bulma have to say about this?

Maybe in 2027 or 2028 apple will discontinue iphone anyway as supply to demand ratio is tighter. Good luck greeds, eventually fuchsia (Android succesor) will be the new king.
Also The new Mixed VR will make the iPhone even useless (Even if it's $3500).

I hope this is the first in a long line and long overdue reforms, big tech has had its own way for long enough. I want products made for ppl and planet rather than profit, I also want replaceable ssd's because they are a consumable item just like batteries. I love my M1air and the fact its ssd will fail at some point and brick the whole device boils my blood, especially for something that could easily have a 10+ year lifespan.

Many of content creators use Apple devices but don't talk negative about it so they do not look dumb and just put up with things like slow wired transfer and charging. This year the battery is increased as two of its phone have less than 100 hours endurance.

As always chip improvement counts for another.

"It’s not all roses, though, Bu confirms that the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will only have USB 2.0 capable ports. This means that they will be limited to 480Mbps data transfer speeds, same as the current Lightning port"

What does surprise me is the free Cable given Green Apples approach no charger.

I was really expecting Apple to prove a lightning bport to Trtype C adapter, as presumably they have a lightning cable already so just need an adapter

Apple are not obliged to provide a cable only that the phone has a Type C port.

The cable Apple will provide is the standard cable minimum all type C must have.
