Ahamad, 23 Nov 2023There is little support for X86 on Android OS smartphones, ... moreI hardly believe into the ARM thing. Have heard about it for years and years.

Apple is apple, I trust even less about them and their addicted users.

What I am sure, TSMC is far ahead. That's about it.

Other than that, I trust only with what I see in my own hands nowadays.

(If this really happens in 2025. AMD and Nvidia are said to be making Arm-based PC hardware SOCs, against the Apple M series. Currently, Qualcomm PC SOCs haven't had any good developments)

This is likely a major limitation to put them in smartphones. Also in phones it's called SoC, where ram, networks ic, gpu, cpu all are in one place, reducing distance improves efficiency. Desktop CPUs are just the CPU; ram, GPU etc are on different place.

        Wow , 3% !!!!

you have to suffer, 25 Aug 2023you sure x86 is efficient?Yes it is, the reason you see cpu like raptor lake not so efficient its because they were designed to be used in desktop then scaled down to laptop. All x86 cpu I saw designed specific for mobile they are as efficient as any mobile soc from Arm.

                1. Check Van Gogh Steamdeck Apu it can be configured to run at 3-5W that's sd 695 level of power consumption and still it can run AAA games with that power usage, its because this Apu was specific designed for Portable handheld.

                2. Check previous Intel mobile cpu like Atom series, they appear in many Android devices and could use as low as 2W.

                3. Check current Alderlake N 6W cpu, cpu like N100 and before that there was Core M both were fanless designs and can be configured to operate around 5-10W and could compete with best mobile cpu of their time.

That's why you always buy the first product in a generational leap, like the 12th gen cpus, and wait until 7nm cpus. Everything on the same node will just be a refresh of a refresh of a refresh of a refresh.

The cpus to get for gaming are either a 12700k or a 13600k.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2023Not sure if having extra Efficiency cores will make a diffe... moreThey are Area efficient not power efficient, around 3 to 4 E cores occupy same area as 1 P core.

Take Example core i3 1220p it has 2 p Core and 8 E cores, this could be just 4 core Cpu but because of E cores it became 10 core cpu and significantly increase perfomance. These made even budget intel Cpu to beat mid to high cpu like Apple core M.

Also X86 is efficient, Zen 4 lose to core m2 by mere 3% in efficiency. And Amd Apu inside deck is as efficient as any mobile soc you can find in phone.

Not sure if having extra Efficiency cores will make a difference to the battery life since x86 is always not as energy efficient as ARM.

Who cares. Every time intel have something new, it took years to actually have them widely available on the market. Many PC OEMs are still selling 11th gen models today. So big whoop. Maybe wait until intel announce their 16th gen, then we’lol see these 14th gen on the market.

With DLSS 3.5 Nvidia has cemented it's position on GPU, i e en expect their market share to increase from current 80% to 90%

But in CPU's both AMD and Intel are fairing pretty badly, gen on Gen improvements are terrible.
