How many replies have you wasted so far on pretending you didn't just refer to the thing you insist on is impossible? :)

Apple will get it one day. Don't worry. Maybe not for another ten years, depending on how fast China can figure out how to copy it properly.. But, you'll get it.

Until then, enjoy your magnet-free bubble....

Samsung does recommend users to have an authorised shop do it as the exposed glass is extremely sensitive due to its thinness. Underneath the glass there is the film layers with the display, polarizer and reflector. Jusy ike any other smartphone display.

Repeat what you wrote about what the screen protector is applied to and you'll have that glorious hallelujah moment. You'll love it when you realise you'll go to bed a smarter person than When you woke up.

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2023Repeat your sentence about what the screen protector is app... moreYou don't understand. The film applied to the UTG is not a film that can be removed. It's a part of the display assembly and trying to remove that will cause damage to the display. Other foldables have it applied to the display while Samsung puts a layer of UTG between the two. Anyways what I'm saying is, that UTG layer won't be of any help while saving the display. It's just a marketing gimmick. It's likely that other brand foldables don't have it and can still function just as well. UTG does not make any difference that's the conclusion. Pretty sure you still can't understand

You missed the point. I never said the glass was chemically combined with plastic there. It's a layer on top of UTG but NOT as a screen guard like on other displays that come with one pre applied. Do keep in mind that a regular screen film can always be removed. The one in Flip CAN NOT BE REMOVED. It's a part of the display itself. Remember when people tried to remove the film on 1st gen Samsung foldables and ended up damaging the display. UTG is nothing more than a gimmick
UTG does guard the display but not like you think it does. In fact it hardly makes a difference

It is scientifically impossible to combine glass with plastic.

UTG is glass. The screen protector is as little part of UTG as a screen protector is part of any other glass panel.

UTG is 100% glass and it is 100% bendable. How do I know? I just unflipped my Flip5 to waste my time replying to a dinosaur.

It's a combination of glass and plastic. It's not "UTG" that's doing any wonders there. In fact the glass layer there is so delicate that even touching it with a slight pressure can lead to it being cracked
Also, the outside still has a fragile regular glass on it. Hence, inside will not be shattered but the outer glass will surely be

Glass has been bendable forever. Glass isn't a static form. Windows in houses hundreds of years old sink towards the bottom of the frame. It's liquid, just very, very slow at being it. That is why Ultra Thin Glass is bendable. Science at work. You just have to know how to and it'll seem like magic to naysayers like yis two. :)

Join the revolution, it began almost half a decade ago and you're still arguing about the bendablity of something that's been done since the time when Marvel movies were cool?

The last three non-foldable phones I owned all broke, costing me over a grand in repairs. I've owned four Z Flips. Dropped them on hardwood, concrete and asphalt more times than I can keep count. None of them has ever broken. The last Galaxy Note I owned, with "unbreakable" Gorilla Glass Victus cracked front and rear the first week, from one drop on carpeted office floor. UTG doesn't break like that, because the wonders of physics. The "magic" hinge flexes and absorbs the impact.

Just like a brass for example is a mixture of 2 raw materials cooper and zinc.
Same way someone can mixture glass and some other alloy or alloys or any other material to get what we needed. A glass which can flex, bend, flip, fold but will not breaks.
Its not about the physic its about to finding solutions.

Just like this found an example for you.

You can't defy basic rules of physics. Glass in its current form can never be bent. It will break. So what are you going to ask next, a flexible diamond ? Time age and technology hahaaha

In other words some well known or maybe some unknown company will find a way how to make a glass flex, flip, fold and bend but will not breaks and will retains all its durability or even better than that.

Now that'll give one reason for people to buy black or blue.

It could be a perfect phone for someone if it only had a GG Victus on main screen and user could install a panzer glass or simmilar screen protector on the main screen.
Since this is not possible and the laughable nail scratchable screen which cost around 1000 to repair is the main issue it really does not matter much the samsung deal because in the end user still ets a hype device with nothing special and worth t justify the price.
Even low end A04s have much more durable screen than this folding phone.
                                  Just saying.
                                  My 5 cents.
