The Fold5 is a minor update over the Fold4, but it now uses a new hinge and comes with a shock dispersion layer.

Infinitely more durable?
Please don't tell me that was said with 100% Confidence :D
So you are saying a screen that can be scratched by a fingernail (and surprisingly little force too) is more durable than a panel that was hardened with Gorilla glass victus?

Sure buddy, and all the listings of damaged foldables on ebay are proof of the durability of the foldables that are so mainstream and infinitely more durable than regular phones right?

Denialist people refusing to follow technology news? Foldables has been mainstream since 2020. Something you ought to know very well, spending most of your "free" time hating on it on the internet.... 😋

Bought 2nd hand fold3. Love it. But sad that it didn't last. I'm OK with the line but the inner screen stopped responding at first to pen, then totally gone. Realised its a problem that not many people highlight in review. I'm waiting for the day this issue is resolved. Foldable is the way to go.

I would say foldables are still not ready to be sold commercially especially at the prices they want. The screens are just way too fragile and can fail as little as after only a thousand folds.

magnaroader, 27 Aug 2023Honestly, the only thing holding me back from pulling the t... moreFoldable phone screens are infinitely more durable than ANY non-foldable phone. The screen is always 100% protected by the fold when you don't use it and the movable hinge can absorb a lot of impact, which your non-foldable can only "absorb" by cracking the glass surfaces.

I am never going back from foldable phones. Had them for nearly half a decade now and never had any screen or glass break, despite uncountable drops. The last 3 slab phones I owned all cracked, costing me over a grand in repairs. One of them on the first drop in carpeted floor.

Honestly, the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger and buying the foldables is the durability factor. I've seen enough youtube videos of damaged screens to know I don't want to spend 1500+ on a phone only to have it break from no fault of my own....

Still it should be considered a crime to sell a device with price of 1000-3000 euros with a very fragile main screen, no charger in the box and unable to use screen protector and a proper case which will make whole device lot safer to use.

Cool now please remove the crease and I'll buy one 100%

People just don't realise how good it is to carry a tablet in your pocket.
