GoPro Hero 12 does not have twice the battery life of the Hero 11. GoPro does not make this claim, they just mislead people into making the claim for them.

"In 5.3K60 recording mode, the Hero 12 can shoot for 70 minutes on one charge, whereas the Hero 11 Black would give up after 35 minutes"
This statement is false, according to GoPro's own record time claims.

The Hero 12 has "double runtime" in situations where The GoPro Hero 11 would overheat.
The official claims of battery life for a Hero 11 without thermal shutdown is 61 minutes. The 35 minutes is how long a Hero 11 will run before overheating, not before the battery drains. (Although in reality it's more like 10-20 mins).

The GoPro Hero 12 Black is available for pre-order on GoPro.com today for $399.99 or €449.99. The Max Lens Mod 2.0 can be yours for $99.99 or €109.99. The release date is September 13.

This part is very confusing. It does not say what cost 449.99 also the max lens mod price difference and it sounds like you buy some extra add on like Motorola had its Motomods.

Zendroid, 07 Sep 2023So now it can last 5 hours of 1080P timelapse? 5 hours for a timelapse is pretty decent
especially doing timelapses each 1 hour or longer per second, it has to charge the camera every time it runs low on charge. would create impressive results though.
