Look at the... moreHe used both, and the i3 12100F is weaker than the recommended 3600X and far from the 3700X-ish (https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/4670vs3494vs3485/Intel-i3-12100F-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600X-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-3700X) equivalent in the Xbox Series and PS5, not to mention that consoles run different OS and have much better optimization possibilities as it's just three different HW setups.

It's not what the game is optimized for, which we know are the consoles and their eight CPU cores. And no, that does not automatically mean utilizing 100% of each core. The biggest bump in the "new" console generation was in the CPU and storage dept.

He used the i3 in a different test, DLSS hack or something like that. He has (at least) two vidoes on the 3060 on Starfield. I also did mention his faults with the other video using 5800x3d. Testing low, but not low as he is customizing the setting to over ultra on resolution scaling. Testing medium, but not medium. . . and so on and so forth.

Again, 3060 is fairly entry level and this game is optimized for AMD, not nVidia. RTX 3060 does run Starfield just fine, unless one bump up the settings to a level beyond the capability of the 3060 - which he did most of the time. Though still not dropping below 30 fps. It's only been out for PC about a month, so perhaps some more optimized drivers will help in time, as well as some updates for the game itself. One of the possible biggest benefits would be a manual draw distance quality limiter.

People (GameGangsta) even tested it on the old GTX 970 (1080p low @ 30 fps) - with some massive dips here and there. Not sure if he had the game installed in the m.2 or older SSD or HDD, as he listed all three in his specs.

On the Vega 56 (and i5-13400F) it is running 1080p Ultra just fine. I thought I'd check my previous GPU's just for fun.

Marco M, 12 Oct 2023In one of the 3060 tests he used an Intel i3-12100F. Miles ... morehow is the i3 12100F slower than the i5 10600K? Look at the Geekbench score, the i3 can reach 9000 multi core and the i5 is only 7000. It's also faster than the R5 3600X as per its recommended specs.

Do you know what YouTube channel I mean? zWORMz uses R7 5800X3D not i3.

rizki1, 11 Oct 2023RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070.. zWORMz gaming tested it. In one of the 3060 tests he used an Intel i3-12100F. Miles below recommended specs and not even remotely a good match with a RTX 3060.

Defult is 50% resolution scaling on low and FSR2 to bump it up, yet he kept setting to 100% scaling in one of the tests (on 5800x3d CPU). So his results on 1080p low isn't really for 1080p low at all. . . Custom all the way.

Scaling around 50-80% is decent on the base 3060 for 1080p medium gaming, depending on desired fps target. Keep in mind that the 60-series really is a fairly low end card, despite GPU prices the past few years. It is still a generation old 60-series card on a demanding modern title optimized for AMD.

On that note, it seems many of those who have been a bit to spoiled on team green and team green optimized titles haven't as often experienced how much it affects when a game is optimized for the other team's HW. Starfield is optimized for AMD, but it runs fine on RTX as per the HW tier and age.

I will assume many console first games will be AMD optimized for the time to come.

Hopefully we will also see some improvements on optimization for PC for all three GPU teams.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2023Waiting for third big manufacturer for video cards.Hate to say it, but Intel is this 3rd player you speak of.

remember when Intel was pricing their CPUs at crazy high prices if they packed more than 4 Cores?

From my (limited) knowledge about intel gpus, they are really good value for the money, but depend a lot on what version of directx the games are using.

Never mind that games are released in beta stage and probably wont even end up as final ready product. They just make updates for the game all the time that create more issues while dont fix a lot of old issues too and then after few years go by they say the game is to broken to fix and must start from 0 but then release new game in the same series that have all the same issues as the first game.

Graphics cards are now super fast, but there are games where optimization is really bad. Like Starfield, last of us and others. Even the RTX 3000 series isn't capable of 1080p. The game graphics also looks terrible in high setting.
