I always use iPhones, I just can’t get on with Android, however I would love to try out a Google pixel if I could run the full IOS17 on it. It does look like a nice phone and would make a change from the iPhone itself. Just a scratch I would like to itch !!

Kriegsherr, 07 Nov 2023Almost same price for a pixel vs iphone? No brainer about i... morethe Pixel 8 pro has a great build quality with a premium metal feel loving mine, honestly I get why people use iPhones but the pixel really is the android equivalent loving mine so far

justasmile, 02 Nov 2023Google Pixel 8 pro is just a phone you should never pick up... moreAlmost same price for a pixel vs iphone? No brainer about iphone being winner. Why would I spend $1000 for a pixel with questionable build quality? Iphones hold their value much better, hardware wise much more reliable, better integration with accessories.
People talk about customization, why can't I remove Google search icon from my home? Where is the customization option there?
If I want an android, I would rather take Samsung S23 ultra. One of the best phones, much better than pixel.

"The two even have mostly the same camera systems, each consisting of a large-sensor primary module, an autofocusing ultrawide, and a telephoto that offers 5x zoom."
That's misleading. The periscope camera of the 8 Pro has far more megapixels and therefore it can also offer a high quality 240mm option, which the iPhone doesn't offer.

SizN80, 02 Nov 2023If the Pixel 8 Pro battery performed better then I would ha... moreBattery life is...weird with the Pixel. For one, I do not think the tests of GMS make any sense in this regard. Rather than raw hardware effiency, the Pixel seems to rely a lot more on smart
firmware and managing what it has. My phone usage isn't really high, and definitely not in bright sunlight (so I don't have the screen burning through battery, which would kill ANY phone at that brightness), so it's hard for me to ever use up the battery in a day or two, but if I were to extrapolate my usage based on the SoT and standby I got (mostly browsing, reading, taking photos, videos) I'd be looking at approx. 60h standby with 7 to 9h SoT. But if I were to just let it run non-stop benchmarking, then it has no room to adjust, as it becomes a game of raw effiency. A game the Tensor can't win (which is still quite a con, of course). Point is, if you aren't gaming, this phone is perfectly fine for battery life. If you are, it'll be average. If the P8P wasn't priced as a "do it all" flagship, it would deserve none of the bashing it's getting. It does what people normally buy a Pixel for: It gets the job done with minimal input, it's secure and it has the arguably best camera system there is in a phone. Even if you can argue that it's a little too good at times (making things seem unnatural, as it sometimes sees more than the human eye...). It wants to be your best friend in your day to day life, rather than just a multi-functional gaming console in your pocket. In that regard, it's fulfilling its task for me with excellence. But I also only really game on a desktop. A large chunk of flagship customers buys them for that gaming performance, I am sure.

as we knew the pixel 8 pro is better than iphone 15 pro max

if only the pixel were available in all countries

Mills, 02 Nov 2023Overrated and prioritized. iPhones go crazy about the l... moreIt depends on who you ask. For me, it is like 85% value of the phone. I do not care about gaming performance or so much RAM that I can keep 1230918239 apps running in the background. I do not care about fancy animations of the OS. The single most important thing for me is the camera. If I had to choose between a phone with a perfect camera system, 90 Hz screen, fullHD, 25W charging, average performance in games and a phone with an average camera, QHD display, best processor, 32 GB RAM, 250W charging, and whatever you want to put their, with no hesitation I go with the first one. And I do care only about pictures, both processed nad RAWs. As for filming - 4k/60frames is more than enough for me.

The pixel is not even available worldwide.

Google Pixel 8 pro is just a phone you should never pick up. It won't be beaten on how terrible value for money it is.

Some people here have never picked up a Pixel or iPhone. Both are excellent but overpriced.

Pixel won on all categories except power management. However you use power to get results. iPhones are over hyped and I use an iPhone and a Samsung. I'm yet to use pixel phones, they turn ti fail a lot in durability .

                          in the meantime

                          M3 faster than M1 Pro
M3 Max as fast as M2 Ultra and faster than M1 Ultra

Anonymous, 02 Nov 2023How exactly iphone's battery life is achieved? It has ... moreFor this there are 2 reasons.

iPhone have very good efficiency cores which does good performance with less straining on battery.

When you minimize any app in iPhone it literally hibernate the app and that way it reduces battery consumption.

The Pixel isn't even the best Android phone, which is the biggest fail.

The Pixels are midrange phones posing as flagships and should be priced and compared accordingly.

Ravenowl, 02 Nov 2023Yeah, if a phone was more than a raw rendering device, then... moreIf the Pixel 8 Pro battery performed better then I would have agreed with this fully, Tensor G3 seems to be underpowered and less efficient despite the 5050mAh battery.

SizN80, 02 Nov 2023The Pixel 8 Pro should be compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max... moreYeah, if a phone was more than a raw rendering device, then that would make sense. But as long as it doesn't get in my way during use and gives me the results I want, it's just as good as anything else. At the point where most apps pretty much load right away and just work, I guess the average user can't do more but compare measurable differences. What we need in the Android space isn't more hardware anyway. We need better software integration. Also don't forget that a lot of the benchmark numbers show short term loads that can't actually be maintained for more than a few minutes anyway. Like yeah, cool, higher number...it's still just a phone and we need massive leaps in effiency to manage more performance in the same size. Unless you want to carry around a brick of a cooler with you.

Mills, 02 Nov 2023Colorways aren't a pro or con, they should just be lef... moreYou weren't kidding. They actually included "Apple's iOS restrictions can be off-putting to newcomers to the ecosystem." as a Con in those reviews. I am starting to doubt if they can be taken serious anymore. They're reaching too hard to stretch reviews. That isn't in-depth, that's filler content.

The Pixel 8 Pro should be compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, they have similar GB6 scores, seems the Tensor G3 has only just caught up to the 3 year old A14 Bionic. 🙂
